Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 245

Selena gently placed her hand on her stomach, a wave of anxiety washing over her. Could she really be... pregnant? No way, that can't be it!

They'd always been careful, taking all the necessary precautions. It couldn't just happen out of the blue, right? More likely, she was just exhausted. Everett had kept her up half the night, and she'd spent the whole afternoon running around looking at venues. She was simply worn out.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

When she stepped out, there was Everett, casually leaning against the wall, smoking a cigarette. With one hand in his pocket and the other holding the cigarette, he looked effortlessly cool. It was hard to look away.

A few girls nearby were sneaking photos of him with their phones, eyes gleaming with excitement.

One of the bolder ones approached and struck up a conversation. "Hey, handsome, did anyone ever tell you you look just like someone?"

Everett lazily lifted an eyebrow, "Oh yeah? Who's that?"

She made a heart with her hands. "Like the man of my dreams!"

Everett smirked.

Sensing her chance, she pulled out her phone. "Mind swapping numbers?"

Everett, noticing Selena out of the corner of his eye, instinctively stubbed out his cigarette and nodded her way.

"You'll have to ask my wife about that," he replied smoothly. "Otherwise, I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight."

He might as well have had "devoted husband" written across his forehead.

The girl was taken aback, turning to see Selena, who was a vision of beauty. Feeling suddenly awkward, she realized there was no competing with someone like her. "Sorry, didn't mean to intrude."

Everett made his way over to Selena, his dark eyes focusing on her face. Noticing her pale lips, he spoke softly. "Let's get you checked out at the hospital."

Selena felt a jolt of panic but kept her voice steady. "It's nothing. I'm just tired."

She paused, then playfully punched his chest. "You're the one who kept me up!"

As expected, it diverted Everett's attention.

He took her hand, kissed it lightly, and teased, "Mrs. Bennett, you were the one holding on too tight."

No one could outdo Everett at playful banter!

Selena's cheeks flushed a deep red, replacing her earlier pallor.

Feeling unwell, they skipped dinner at the mall and headed straight home to Moon Bay.

Ava had prepared some oatmeal, and although Selena wasn't hungry, she forced herself to eat half a bowl to keep Everett from suspecting anything.

After dinner, Everett retreated to his study, and Selena started rummaging through the bedroom.

After searching for a while, she finally found one and held it tightly in her hand.

But she didn't take the test right away; morning was the best time for accuracy. She could wait one more night.

As the night wore on, Selena found herself tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

Perhaps disturbed by her restlessness, Everett suddenly pulled her into his arms, his hand resting firmly around her waist.

"Can't sleep?" His voice was husky and low.

Selena stiffened, "Everett, you're not thinking of..."

"What are you talking about?"
