Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 212

"Which hospital?"

Derick replied, "The one where Dr. Campbell works."

Everett's expression darkened visibly, his words barely squeezing through clenched teeth. "You've got some nerve, Selena!"

Instead of turning to her own husband for help, she ran off to a guy who had his eye on her!

...

Selena had just pulled up to the hospital when Brook called, urging her to come back because the money issue had been sorted out.

She was baffled and wanted to ask more, but the call had already ended. With no other choice, she started the car again and headed back home.

As she arrived at Brook's house, Selena immediately spotted the familiar Cullinan parked outside. Her expression hardened.

Stepping inside the living room, she found Everett sitting in the main chair, still carrying himself with that haughty grace. Brook had shaken off the previous day's gloom, and was respectfully chatting with him.

Everett took a sip of hot coffee, set the cup down, and turned to look at Selena as she walked in, his gaze intense and probing. "Mrs. Bennett, I've come to take you home."

Selena stopped in her tracks, her hands clenching at her sides as her eyes flickered with uncertainty.

Each time she'd run back here, hoping he'd come for her, she'd been let down. Now that he finally showed up, she realized she didn't want it anymore.

Brook noticed her stand still and

sleeve. He whispered, "Selena,

stepped forward, gently tugging her

Everett just told me he's covering the debt. And he'll look into the jerk who conned me. With his effort,

there's hope of getting my money back."

"Your husband really does care about you. Don't hold a grudge, okay? Go on, go back home with him. Selena, seeing you two together and happy leaves me genuinely relieved."

Selena realized this was Everett's

way of handling things. She didn't want her uncle to know about the issues in their marriage, especially since he was in a fragile state of mind and prone to despair, so she felt she had no choice but to go back home with Everett.

He was always a master at playing with emotions. And she was like a kite he held by the string. No matter how high or far she flew, a single tug from him would pull her back to his feet. Sitting in the car, Selena gazed out the window, staying silent all the way back to Moon Bay.

Once the car stopped, she went straight inside, upstairs, and into the bedroom.

Everett followed her. Hands in his pockets, he narrowed his dark eyes at her, speaking coldly, "Are you planning to never speak to me again?"

He wanted her back, but not as a mute.NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Selena slowly turned to face him, meeting his icy gaze as she softly spoke, "There's no such thing as a free lunch. What do you want in return for spending five hundred million this time?" Everett shook his head. He stepped closer, gently caressing her beautiful face with tenderness in his eyes. "It's my duty as your husband."

Selena scoffed, turning her face away to dodge his touch, cuttinge through his feigned tenderness. "We're about to get divorced in just over three months. I can't afford the luxury of your affections."

She paused, then continued as if struck by a thought, "Or is it my body you're after? If so, let's settle the debt that way."

Her gaze was steady, as if she truly considered herself a commodity, "Five hundred million... I'll sleep with you a hundred times. Is that enough?"
