Mated In Chaos: The Broken Mate

Chapter 29

Elara

We arrived at our destination late at night. We were just so tired that we went right to sleep.

The following day, when I woke up, Zuriel wasn’t in bed with me. I stretched and inspected the room we’d be staying in for the week.

The suite is elegant. It has tall glass windows that give us a perfect view of the island. I can see the blue ocean and sand. We are surrounded by clear waters, and the air is fresh.

There is a knock on the door, and four servants in neat uniforms walk in with smiles.

A tall man with a mustache steps forward and bows. He then introduces the other servants. There are two house cleaners, one chef, and a supervisor.

‘Have you seen my husband?’ I ask.

‘Yes, he is discussing with the manager of the resort,’ he says. I nod and go to the bathroom as they stay to clean the room. I stayed in the jacuzzi for a while, and when I came out. I went straight to the walk-in closet where our bags were. To my surprise, everything was packed neatly. I opened a drawer and pulled out my thong. I picked out a long silk dress, paired it with pearls earrings and necklace. I want to look modest and cute. I brush my hair and leave the closet.

I go back into the bedroom. Zuriel is there, and my heart beats faster in my chest. He is wearing white slacks and a white button shirt, the upper buttons of the shirt are undone, and I can see his eight-pack. As I openly gawked at him, he did the same to me.

‘Good morning,’ I greet him with a smile.

‘Morning, breakfast?’ he asks, and I nod. I follow Zuriel out.

As we walked to god knows where, I admired the surrounding scenery. The staff bow to us as we pass them. We go to a gazebo near a pond. There, a two-for-two was set, and was delicious breakfast was served,

‘So what are we doing today,’ I ask, eating a bagel. He grabs his black coffee and shrugs.

‘What do you want to do?’

‘Maybe go to local sites,’ I say, and he nods.

‘One of the supervisors can go with you. I have made arrangements,’

‘You’re not coming with me?’ I ask, annoyed. I want to spend the day with him. We are on our honeymoon for fuck sake. He lifts his gaze, so he looks into my eyes.

‘I have a meeting,’ he says. I glanced away and clenched my fist. I get up.

‘Well, I guess I should go,’ I say. Zuriel dares to look surprised at my sudden sour mood.

‘Breakfast,’

‘I’m full,’ I say and went to our room. It angers me that he doesn’t even follow me. I know he doesn’t want any of this, but he can make an effort, especially since he knows of my feelings for him.

‘Does he, though?’ Ara asks.

‘I’m sure he does,’ I mumble.

‘He thinks you’re in love with Connor. That’s why he isn’t even trying,’ Ara always makes up excuses for his rude behavior, but I tune her out.

I grab my purse and cell phone before going to the lobby. I requested to see the supervisor who was in our room earlier.

‘My husband told me that you could show me around the island,’ I tell him, and he nods. He checks his wristwatch and frowns.

‘I will call the tour guide now. I was supposed to go with you, but I have an emergency. I’m sorry, Mrs. Crawford,’

Mrs Crawford, I repeat silently. I love it. He makes a phone call, and five minutes later, a tall man approaches us. He is good-looking with a stubble beard and a muscular frame. I can tell from his scent that he’s human. He gives me a charming smile. The supervisor speaks to him in a different language, and he nods with a polite smile.

‘Hello, Mrs. Crawford. My name is Rob, and I’ll be your guide throughout your stay here.’

I extend my hand to him and shake it. Rob looks fondly at me.

Robert is the best tour guide ever. He knows everything and everyone. The beach is ravishing here.

After meeting the locals and eating their famous delicacies, Rob and I walk by the beach, drinking cocktails from pineapple cups.

‘It’s so peaceful and beautiful here,’ I smile.

‘Indeed,’

‘Were you born here, Rob?’ I ask, and he shakes his head.

‘No, but my mom originates here. I came when I was 10- years old after my father got a permanent position at the resort,’ he tells me. His father was the head supervisor at the resort.

I don’t know how long we had been talking while walking.

Rob gets a camera and takes a picture of me. He smiles and looks at it.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

‘Lovely,’

I check the picture, it is perfect. The sunset was hitting my face, and I was smiling, holding my coconut drink.

‘Oh fuck, it’s getting late,’ I say. I was having such a good time with Rob that I didn’t notice it was late. He didn’t even notice, either.

‘Oh no,’ he mutters, looking worried. We walk back to the resort, and he tells me about activities to do.

‘All those seem fun,’ I say. ‘ But I want to do something thrilling, you know,’

‘Scuba diving, your husband likes that,’ he says. I slow down. I didn’t know Zuriel enjoyed that. I want to know what he likes doing when he comes here, but I’m ashamed to ask.

‘He also likes shark diving, swimming with crocodiles, motorcycle racing, free fall, skydiving,’ he points out, ‘ Every dangerous activity there is,’

Of course, he’d like all that.

‘Does he come here often?’ I ask slowly.

‘It’s been a while since he came. I remember seeing him a lot when we were younger,’ I stare at Rob. I always want to know about my new husband.

‘Did he spend time with anyone?’
