Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Giving It A Thought

“You should end the contract, and give your relationship a chance,” he continued. “I know it’s a big risk, but I think it’s one that’s worth taking. You and Marissa have something special, and I think it’s worth fighting for.”

Alexander sat there, taking in what Anderson had said. He knew that his friend was right, that he and Marissa did have something special. But he also knew that it was a risk, and he wasn’t sure if he was ready to take that leap.

“I don’t know, Anderson,” he said, shaking his head. ”

I’m not sure if I’m ready to give up my life here for something that might not work out. I know that Marissa is a great woman, but I’m not sure if we’re meant to be together. We’re very different people, and I don’t know if we can make it work.”

“I get that,” Anderson said, nodding. “But what if you never find out? What if you never take that chance, and you spend the rest of your life wondering ‘what if?’ You could miss out on something really special.”

Alexander sat there, his mind racing. Anderson’s words resonated with him, and he felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. He knew that Anderson was right, but the thought of taking such a big risk was terrifying.

“I don’t know what to do,” he said, his voice filled with uncertainty. “I’m scared to take a chance, but I’m also scared to not take a chance. I feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place.”

“That’s understandable,” Anderson said, putting a hand on his shoulder. “But you have to do what your heart tells you is right. And I think your heart is telling you and I end up regretting it?”

“There’s always a risk of failure in life,” Anderson said, his voice steady and calm. “But what’s the alternative? Never taking a chance, and never knowing what could have been? I think that’s a worse fate than taking a risk and it not working out. At least if you try, you’ll know that you gave it your best shot.”

Alexander thought about what Anderson was saying, and he realized that he was right. If he didn’t try, he would always wonder what could have been. But if he did try, and it didn’t work out.

“Wait a minute, why are you advising me all of sudden to give Marissa a chance when you clearly told me not to before. So what changed your mind, big head?” Alex asked.

Anderson chuckled at Alex’s nickname for him and smiled. “You see, what made me change my mind was the fact that I’ve seen how much you’ve grown as a person ever since you met Marissa.

You’ve become more mature, more responsible and more open to new possibilities. I have watched how your face lights up when you hear or see Marissa and how she brings out the best part in you that was long hidden.

At first I thought if you stayed with Jessie in your long term relationship, it would be better since both of you came from the same background and the society won’t judge you.

I was wrong. Your happiness is what’s important and not what the society wants for you.” Anderson explained.

Alex opened his eyes wide in shock as he had never seen Anderson speak like that to him before. He was advising him to take a chance with Marissa and not with Jessie.

“And besides, Jessie doesn’t care about you like Marissa does. I mean the lady practically begged me to send her Jessie’s contact so she could discuss with Jessie and plead with her to not judge you and break up with you because she thought you guys had a thing.

She went over to see Jessie and talked her into believing that nothing was going on between you two.” Anderson explained.

Alex’s mouth dropped open. He couldn’t believe that Marissa would go so far as to beg Anderson to give her Jessie’s contact. He didn’t think Marissa was that brave or would ever do such a thing. But from the way Anderson was talking, it seemed as though he believed Marissa.

“I still don’t know what to do though.” Alex said. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

“It’s simple Alex. Marissa is the one who makes you happy. The one who loves you with all of her being. The one who would do anything for you. The one who stands up for you and would fight for you, even if she has to go against the whole world for you. You don’t find someone like that easily. She’s special.” Anderson explained.

“And what about Jessie?” Alex asked.

“What about her? She’s shallow. She wants what’s best for her. She doesn’t put you first. I mean, just look at the fact that she wouldn’t even come to see you when you were sick and admitted to the hospital last time, remember that she explained that she had to go on an urgent business trip.

And now she’s giving you an ultimatum that you should choose her or your contract after knowing how important it was for you to secure that contract.

Isn’t she a selfish type?” Anderson asked.

Alex knew that Anderson was right. He had never thought of it that way before. He had always been too wrapped up in his feelings for Jessie to see the situation for what it really was. But now, he was starting to see things more clearly.

He still loved Jessie, but he couldn’t deny that she had never put him first. She had always been more concerned with herself and her own needs, and she had never been willing to compromise or make sacrifices for him.

Marissa, on the other hand, had always been there for him. She had been willing to do anything for him, no matter what
