LUCIFER'S HUMAN BRIDE

JOB INTERVIEW

I took a taxi to the legendary creepy human company. The taxi driver stopped at the front. I handed him the bill I took from Medusa and stepped out of the taxi I was about to go when he called out to me and handed me another dollar bill. Is this human dumb or what? I reluctantly took the money from him and put it in my bag, staring at the building while the taxi drove off. I inhaled and exhaled before walking over to the security guard. He tossed me a curious look. "Who are you? Do you have an appointment here?" He asked in a serious tone.

"No, but I am here for the job interview." I replied.

"Hold on." He said and took a small piece of paper and a pen from his pocket; I could see that it was a list of people's names and faces, and he then looked back at me.

"I don't think you are here for the interview... your name is not on the list," he stated bluntly. I didn't know humans were so strict. I tried to force my way into the gate, but he pushed me out.

I tried again, and he pushed me out by the shoulder with a serious look on his face. I groaned and pretended to be walking away from the company. I looked back at him and noticed he wasn't staring at me anymore, so I became invisible and entered the building. I could hear a lot of people talking at the same time, so I hid behind a wall and became visible. I trailed the noise and saw a large crowd queuing to talk to someone that was sitting behind a desk.

I went to the line and stood at the extreme end, bending my head to see the person they were queuing to see, and then I noticed the people were starting to stare at me like I was catching their attention. I ignored them, standing straight and waiting for my turn. "I had no idea such a beautiful woman existed in this world." I heard an employee who was sitting behind his cubicle say something. Was he talking about me? I waved off the idea after waiting for a thousand years with the humans lamenting after the interview. It was my turn. I found myself standing before a man in his late forties.

"Good morning, miss. Have a seat." He said offering me a seat in front of his desk. I gladly sat on it, and he smiled at me.

"Can I have your CV?" He asked, and I took it out of my bag and gave it to him. He took it from me and looked at it for a few minutes. "Hmm..." he muttered and looked up at me. "I am sorry, but you are not qualified for this job, but I will make some considerations." He said and I smiled widely at him, wondering if my husband was manipulating him.

"My name is Mr. Joshua; people call me Josh for short; I'm the co-founder of ED Company; nice to meet you." He said this while extending his hand to me, and I took his hand and shook it.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Mr. Joshua, I'm sorry for asking, but what's the meaning of ED?" I stated unequivocally.

"ED is an abbreviation for Eliminate Demons," he explained, and I gasped.

"Are you okay?" he asked. "Our goal is to capture demons and destroy them; they don't belong on earth." He said making me clench my fist.

"Yes, I am fine. Can I go now?" I asked. Just then, an employee came and whispered something in his ear, making his eyes pop open. "That deadline is too soon." I heard him murmur to the employee who left, and he turned to look at me. "Um, well, the pay is twenty thousand dollars monthly... I haven't really thought of this, but I think you have to start right now because I haven't considered anyone for this job yet, so you are the lucky one." He said. "Right now?!?" I asked, surprised, wondering why he wanted me to start now.

"You see uh, we are short of employees, and my boss doesn't want to wait anymore; he needs another assistant as soon as possible, and you are the only one available." He said, which made me nervous and wonder why the human would be in such a hurry.

"Don't worry, I will introduce you to everyone and tell you your job," he assured with a welcoming smile.

"It's okay, I can start now," I replied, his eyes lit up. "Good, you are hired!" He exclaimed and pushed a few papers toward me, handing me a pen. "Hurry up and sign it," he said. I took the pen from him and signed it without hesitation. I care about the terms of the contract; I just want to be closer to that human so I can end him. I finished signing it and got up from the seat while he took me away and started walking me around the company, introducing me to everyone, who always stared at me like I was a goddess.

He took a card from an employee and handed it to me. "You can use this to open doors and get food in the cafeteria." He said. I took it from him, somewhat happy that I managed to secure the job. He also made me enter an elevator with him to the top floor of the building. The moment the doors opened, he walked out. I followed him, glancing at all the doors in the hallway. This place was big, and there were a lot of people in it, which meant this human was rich on earth. "This way to the boss's office; you will be his assistant. Your job is to accompany him on missions to eliminate demons and feed Deacon every day," he declared.

"When does your boss normally come to work, and who is Deacon?" I asked, raising a brow.

He chuckled before responding. "I know this would sound crazy because a lot of people don't believe in supernatural stuff, but our boss has special abilities so he can appear at work whenever he wants, and Deacon is a dragon." He said in a low tone, expecting me to get scared, but I knew better because I was a demon myself. These people are much more complicated than I thought.

"But I heard he wasn't around yesterday." I said

"What! How do you know that?" He asked, surprised.

"Someone told me." I muttered nervously.

"He was on a mission yesterday when his right-hand man died, his old assistant," he said with a sad expression.

"He must have really meant a lot to your boss?" I said it, and he nodded.

"Yeah, he was the boss's close friend. The boss won't rest until he uncovers who killed him; he had been out drinking a lot because of his death, and his trust issues have skyrocketed," he muttered with his eyebrows lowered and pulled together.
