Chapter 592 A Familiar Face
Chapter 592 A Familiar Face
When they woke up the next day, it was already past ten o’ clock. The two went to have breakfast
together in the university canteen.
The students were all in class during this hour, so the canteen was quite empty.
As they ate, Clarissa looked up to greet a teacher approaching them.
“Miss Carroll, have you eaten?” Clarissa asked.
Miss Carroll used to be Clarissa’s instructor.
“Yes. I’ve been busy doing the records for our intake students ten years ago. They want to plan a ten-
year anniversary of their entrance to university. The class representative wanted to wait another three
years to do a graduation anniversary, but the others couldn’t wait. They got me to compile the data. I
won’t have to do much for you since you’re a graduate, Clarissa, but you’re now teaching here. Has the
university given you any graduate students yet?” Miss Carroll asked, holding a paper in her hands.
Clarissa had heard about this event. Since she was at the university, she didn’t keep in much contact
with her old classmates who were spread out all over. Besides, the recent happenings regarding
Damien’s marriage had been distracting her.
“Not yet. It might take some time, I think.”
Seeing Damien next to Clarissa, Miss Carroll asked, “And this is…?”
“This is my boss. He just so happened to be here to discuss work with me,” Clarissa said seriously.
Damien was speechless.
“Let me see how my ex-classmates are doing.” Clarissa took the paper from Miss Carroll.
The paper listed the classmates’ names, phone numbers, and addresses, as well as their current
workplaces and positions.
Those who were attending the reunion were undoubtedly those who had found success in life. Those
who weren’t successful didn’t attend.
Clarissa had also attended one of Damien’s reunions before. As such, she wasn’t very interested.
“By the way, Clarissa. You used to have a boyfriend, didn’t you? I heard something happened during an
education outreach program?” Miss Carroll suddenly said.
Clarissa paused in eating immediately.
She had already forgotten about Zach Stevens. Now that Miss Carroll had brought him up, Clarissa felt
very uneasy.
“Yes.” Clarissa nodded before continuing to eat.
“We always found him to be a quiet and sensible person, and that you’d marry him after graduating.
Who would’ve thought that… Life is so unpredictable.” Miss Carroll shook her head sadly.
Clarissa didn’t speak. She was too upset to do so.
Zach Stevens was a name that no longer meant much to Damien. Although he was uncomfortable to
hear it, he would still comfort Clarissa. Even if he was unhappy, he wouldn’t explode in anger as he
used to do.
Clarissa wondered how Zach’s mother, Kylie, was doing. Judging from her age, she must’ve already
retired. It would be a good idea to have Kylie take care of her own mother. Kylie was a familiar face, so
Clarissa wouldn’t have to worry about the former treating Mildred badly. Besides, Clarissa remembered
Kylie to be a fabulous cook.
Now that she thought of this, Clarissa wanted to put her plan into action. After all, she needed to teach, Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
and Mildred really needed someone to be with her.
Her aunt, Iris, still hadn’t gotten the password, so it was possible that she might abduct Mildred. With
the current circumstances, Clarissa was certain there was nothing Iris wouldn’t do. Therefore, Clarissa
needed someone she could trust to care for Mildred.
The more she thought about it, the more Clarissa wanted to visit Kylie and discuss this matter.
“Are you leaving now?” Clarissa asked Damien after eating.
“Do you want me to leave?” Damien asked. His tone was a mix of concern and flirtiness.
“Yes. I want to take a walk with my mother, and she gets scared if there are strangers around.”
Damien gave Clarissa a deep look before leaving in silence.
