Chapter 12
I never knew there were so many other mythical creatures in this world except for the mages, dragons and wolves.
Within two hours of sitting here and flipping over pages, I’ve learned much more than I did in the last twenty years.
I lowered the book that was covering my face down to my lap gently when I heard the library door open. Footsteps echoed in the calm silent room and the voices of males talking reached my ears.
“Be Fast!” hissed a voice that sounds quite familiar. I held my breath in fear that I might be caught eavesdropping on their conversation.
I slightly tilted my head to the left to get a better view of who the Delta Leonardo was talking to. I could only see the back of the man who he was talking to and from his lanky form, I assume he’s a human.
They were both staring at each other and the Delta wore and expression of impatience.
After a few beats, the unknown man finally spoke. “Until you give us the information that the Highest priestess needed” He said inbox scratchy voice.
I could feel that something wasn’t right… With this whole conversation something just wasn’t right and I plan on finding out what it is!
“Fine!” Leonardo snapped. “He has gone to the Dradon’s land, now give me what I want” He muttered like he was being forced to say it.
The stranger said something but I couldn’t catch what it was. His hand disappeared into the black bag that rests on his right his and brought out something and gave it to the Delta.
I couldn’t see what it was though because his body was blocking whatever it was.
“Do you enjoy eavesdropping on others conversations?”
The voice startled me and I jumped to my feet, the book that was resting on my lap fell to the floor and the noise it made echoed in the room which made me cringe.
I sighed and rolled my eyes then picked up the book and dust and invincible dirt from it’s hardcover. When I looked back up, the unknown man was nowhere to be seen but Delta Leonardo stood there unblinking and staring straight at me through the gap between the shelves.
I was actually surprised he hasn’t scented me out the moment he entered the room. With his beast senses and all, I had expected him to have know that I was here.
“I wasn’t eavesdropping on anything” I said and we both knew it was a lie.
I turned my body towards where she was standing at my right-five feet away from me.
Devina’s face wore a scowl, her arms were crossed over her chest. We both glared at each other for a few seconds, either of us flinching or backing down.
I was the first to break whatever glare competition we had and turned my head to look at the spot where Leo was a few seconds ago to find it empty.
“Leave him” She muttered. If not because the room was as silent as a cemetery, I would not have heard her as the two words came out in a low mumble.
“What?” I asked like I didn’t hear what she said but we both knew that I did or maybe I didn’t.
Maybe it was just the wind that blew from the window next to her, taking along the words of the people that roamed the palace into thus room because if she thinks i wo-.
“Leave him” Devina gritted out more firmly, her voice coming out much stronger.
I blinked. Then I blinked again and scoffed. “Are you being serious?” I asked the woman tilting my head to the side and a confused and questioning way.
She drops her hands to her side and take a step towards me. “You don’t love him. You won’t love him so why don’t you just leave him” She said while taking a step with each word.
I narrowed my eyes at her and furrowed my brows. “Who the hell do you think you are to tell me to leave my mate?” I asked her, stressing on the word mate.
She chuckled dryly at what I said like it something to be laughed at. “And you. Do you even want him as a mate or is this just a joke to you?” She asked and I smack my lips together in a frim line and she laughed again like she knew something I didn’t… Or rather something we both knew.
“Why do you care?” I questioned already having enough of this whole charade.
“Because he is my friend and unlike you, I care about him and his feelings”
“Yeah Right.” I scoffed and turned my back to her. I moved to a shelf closer to me and placed it there not even bothering to put it back in it’s original spot.
My eyes widen as I realized something. “You are in love with the king!” I said loudly and gasped at the same time while turning my body so fast to face her I stumbled a bit.
My mouth and eye were opened widely and i sure I look comical with my red hair.
She looked taken back by my words, definitely not expecting it and she whipped her head left to right with eyes wide as mine to see if there was someone else aside us in the room.
“Of course not!” She muttered to quickly and defensively.
“That why you are trying to get rid of me huh?” I chuckled while walking slowly towards her.
Devina glared at me and said “don’t come any closer or I might use my magic on yo-” “But you wouldn’t want to hurt the King’s mate or you will be killed” I said cutting her off with an eye roll.
That seem to have made her angry as she balled her hands into fist. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t put the King’s little mate to sleep” Devina mumbled.
I was confused for a second until she stretched her hand towards me and white sparkly dust came out of palm and landed on every single part of my uncovered skin and closed.
My eyes and limbs became heavy and it was like I was falling on a very soft cloud but deep down, I knew it was no cloud. Just the wooden floor underneath my head. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
