Chapter 39
Body Examination
Benjamin was slightly startled and froze. Before he could answer, Harper had already taken out her hand.
She said, "You really should go take a shower. I'm a little sleepy."
She sounded resistant and lay down after speaking.
Staring at her condescendingly for a few seconds, Benjamin turned and went to the bathroom.
But his mind was filled with what Harper asked just now.
He also wondered what he would do if Harper said she didn't want to divorce.
In the end, he knew he would disagree with her if she really asked not to get divorced from him; he had promised Lauren to marry her, so he had no choice.
That night, they seemed to be in peace but were pestered by their problems.
Before the first ray of sunlight in the morning shone through the window, Harper had woken up, but she had not moved because the hand on her waist was tightly trapping her.
They wouldn't sleep together anymore two days later, so she tried to feel Benjamin's hug as much as she could.
She stayed that for so long time until someone knocked their bedroom's door.
A servant came to remind them, "Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Sir Martin wants to have breakfast with you if you wake up."
Before Harper could say anything, Benjamin had already spoken, "Okay, we'll get down right away."
After saying that, he leaned towards Harper, thinking that she was not awake yet, so he tried to wake her up by whispering. "Harper, get up, okay?"
She subconsciously turned her head, then their noses touched, their eyes met, and time paused.
Benjamin stared at her intently. Her slightly curled eyelashes were trembling, and her fair and delicate face was completely different from other women with heavy makeup. Harper's clean and clear beauty fascinated him.
Harper also stared at him. He had messy hair after sleep, and his nightgown was also skewed, revealing a charming chest showing a different kind of sex appeal.
But she found it weird for them to keep staring at each other.
It struck her that men usually had a more robust sexual desire in the morning.
Then she immediately turned around and wanted to get up, but Benjamin stopped her and asked, "What are you hiding from?"
She whispered, "I didn't hide. Grandpa told us to get up for breakfast. Please let me go."
"Grandpa is happier if we don't go out for a long time. Do you know why?" His voice was hoarse but sounded joyful.
Raising her hand to push him away, she happened to touch his hot chest, and before she could take her hand back, Benjamin held her hand tightly and smiled to ask slowly, "Why don't you look at me, Harper?"
Her eyes widened a little, and she bit her lip. He still invaded her mind by his scent, although she tried her best not to look at him.
She said in a low voice, "I didn't."
"If not, just look at me, huh?"
"Let me go first."
"You'll run away as soon as I let you go."
"I won't run."
Harper felt a little overwhelmed being so close to him, especially since his warm breath could spray directly on her face and neck, making her feel panicked and trembling.
But Benjamin just wouldn't let her go. In desperation, Harper could only turn her head and look at him again.
She didn't care what he wanted to do as long as she could get up and leave this bed.
However, she turned around so hard that she almost kissed him, which stunned both of them.
Squinting, he asked in a low voice, "Harper, did you do that on purpose?"
"I didn't."
"You did."
"I...Well..."
But he spared no chance for her to speak what she wanted to speak by kissing her directly.
Harper's whole body was stiff. She didn't dare to move at all until he stopped and stared at her with mixed feelings. Regaining her power somehow, she pushed him away and got up from the bed. She fled to the bathroom in despair. After closing the door, she raised her hands to hold her face and breathed heavily. Her cheeks were hot, and everything he did to her just kept replaying in her mind. "What the hell did we do?!" She thought.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Then she began to question herself, "Harper, you two got divorced, so you should keep distance with him."
Harper poured cold water on her cheeks until she calmed down completely.
A few minutes later, Harper came out after washing her face with cold water but found no trace of Benjamin. She felt nice since she didn't have to be embarrassed.
When they finally came downstairs, Paul had finished his breakfast.
Lily had gone to play golf with her friends while Scott had left with his driver.
After breakfast, because they couldn't leave the Martin Manor, Benjamin played chess with Paul, and Harper watched their games.
It seemed harmonious.
At lunchtime, Benjamin's parents came back. Today, Lily cooked by herself, and Harper went over to help.
However, the smell of cooking fumes was too strong, and Harper almost vomited. Perhaps because she was not feeling well, her face turned pale. Lily said, "Harper, maybe you should go out and have a rest. I get helpers here."
So Harper didn't insist and nodded. "Okay, thank you."
"You don't need to be so polite. We're family!" Lily smiled.
Harper came out of the kitchen and felt better.
Walking to the living room, she happened to see Benjamin play chess with his father and grandfather. She couldn't help but take out her mobile phone to take a photo. In the photo, Benjamin seems as charming as he always was.
She couldn't help smiling while thinking of the reality that he would belong to another woman in the future.
Taking a few deep breaths, Harper suppressed her sadness and put away her phone.
Soon, lunch began.
Lily made many dishes: mushroom soup, steaks, steamed lobster, and some desserts.
All the dishes smelled and tasted so good.
However, facing the delicious meal, Harper felt so paradoxical because she had to endure a sense of sickness when smelling the grease.
But in the end, she couldn't hold it in anymore. After Lily invited her to eat more, Harper couldn't help but cover her mouth and ran to the bathroom.
But in the end, she couldn't hold it in anymore. After Lily invited her to eat more, Harper couldn't help but cover her mouth and ran to the bathroom. Benjamin also looked solemn.
Paul was the calmest. He said, "Maybe there's something wrong with her stoma. She told me that yesterday. These dishes may be too greasy for her."
Then he looked at Benjamin and said, "Why don't you go to see what's wrong with her?"
Benjamin stood up and walked to the bathroom when Harper had already vomited and was wiping the corners of her mouth.
He asked in a low voice, "Are you okay? Why didn't you tell me that you're not feeling well?"
Harper just shook her head slightly. "I'm fine."
Her indifference made Benjamin frown, and when they returned to the dining hall and sat down, Benjamin said, "Let the family doctor come and examine your body. You have been like this for several days. It is best to find out what the problem is and treat it in time."
Harper subconsciously looked at Paul and then said quickly, "No, I'm really fine. There's no need for the doctor to come here. I've already checked my body in the hospital."
"What did the doctor say? Did you take any medicine?"
"The doctor said there's nothing wrong. It's just stomach caused by a cold, so there's no need to take medicine." "Well, that's not okay. You need to take medicine to get better soon. I'll call the family doctor to come here now." Benjamin was so insistent that Harper didn't dare to say no anymore, which would make him more suspicious.
He immediately called his family doctor and told the servants to make soup for Harper. Lily was happy to see this.
Instead of worrying, she laughed and said, "It's so nice to see you care about Harper. I hope you can keep doing that in the future."
Hearing that, Benjamin didn't react to Lily's words.
Meanwhile, Harper hid her worries and nervousness well from others.
Soon, the doctor came.
