Chapter 1008: It's My Fault

After Yanis spoke, Madison froze in place, looking at Yanis, wanting to say something several times,

but holding back her words.

After another silence, Yanis stood up and said, "Take good care of yourself and don't worry Ivan."

"Yanis!"

Just as Yanis was walking towards the door, she heard Madison's anxious voice from behind.

Yanis hesitated for a moment but didn't turn back. Instead, she stopped briefly, turned around, and

looked at Madison.

Madison seemed to struggle to find the right words. But meeting Yanis' gaze, she finally managed to

speak, "Yanis, on the verge of my departure, could you... could you call me 'mom' just once?"

This request made Yanis pause once more. She seemed stunned by Madison's words for a moment.

However, without saying a word, she continued walking towards the door and left the room.

"Yanis!"

Madison's voice came from behind again.

Yanis kept walking, not stopping this time. She just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. The

atmosphere in the room always felt oppressive, making it hard for her to breathe.

Just as Yanis had taken a few steps outside the room, a loud thud came from inside. Startled by the

loud noise, Yanis froze in her tracks. She hesitated for a moment before turning back into the room.

She found Madison had fallen from the bed, seemingly because she lost her balance and hit her

forehead on the bedside table.

Yanis looked at the wound on Madison's forehead, her eyes showing a hint of concern. She turned

around and called the maid who came upstairs.

After the maid came, Yanis instructed, "Please take care of her wound. I have something to attend to,

so I'll be leaving."

Yanis didn't linger and left without saying anything else.

Madison half-lay on the bed, watching Yanis' retreating figure. Tears silently streamed down her

cheeks. She wanted to call out to Yanis, but the words Yanis said earlier made her hesitate.

After Yanis left, the maid attended to Madison's wound. She said, "Mrs. Baxter, you and Miss

Thompson seemed to have a disagreement. You got hurt."

Ryan had just come in through the door when he heard the maid's words. He paused, his hands still on

his shoes. "They had a fight?"

The maid shook her head. "No, they didn't, but when I went upstairs, Mrs. Baxter was injured."

Ryan knew a bit about Yanis. He knew she was not the kind of person who would get physical with her

elders. There must be something more to this.

With that thought in mind, Ryan finished changing his shoes and said to the maid, "I'll go up and check

on her."

Ryan entered the room and heard the faint sound of sobbing. He hesitated for a moment before sitting

down by the bedside. He gently patted Madison's back and said softly, "I saw Yanis at the entrance Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

when I came in. She came to see you, right?"

Madison's crying continued.

Ryan continued, "Give her some time. She has faced a lot of hardships in the Thompson family, and

her relationship with Zane wasn't good either. She's been through a lot, so you should understand her."

Madison's emotions calmed slightly upon hearing Ryan's words. She turned to look at him, her eyes

teary. "I know I was wrong, but I..."

Ryan wiped away her tears gently. "I'll talk to her privately another day. She's a kind-hearted person.

She won't ignore you completely."

Madison shook her head gently. "There's no need. She won't forgive me."

Ryan asked, "How can you be so sure?"
