Chapter 2233
Chapter 2233
Meanwhile, Alexander removed the hidden earpiece from his ear and looked at Austin.
Austin looked anxious. “How was it?”
“He said it,” Alexander said simply.
Dr. Blanc made the late-night trip to set Mike up. They wanted to see if he would ask Rhea about it, and
he did. From their conversation, Alexander could tell Mike had yielded to Rhea for Nick’s sake.
‘Why would he still trust Rhea? How can that woman help him find Nick? Even if she could, how’s Rhea
supposed to rescue Nick? What the hell is Mike thinking?’
Alexander felt like confronting Mike, but he could not.
They had set Mike up so that he would unwittingly relay false information to the organization. Their
effort would go to waste if Alexander were to interrogate him.
Alexander sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
Austin noticed Alexander’s saddened look and patted his shoulder. “Don’t be sad. Humans are
complex beings, aren’t we?”
“I’m not sad. I just don't get it.” Alexander shook his head. “Why does he trust Rhea so much?”
“Who knows? Perhaps she bewitched him, or he fell for her?” Austin made a joke to lighten the
atmosphere. After all, everyone felt stressed, and things had gotten weirder now that they knew what
Mike had done.
Austin laughed at his own joke, but Alexander only looked grimmer. “Okay, I know that was a terrible
joke. Mike would never fall for that vile woman—”
Alexander interrupted, “It’s not impossible.”
Austin was stupefied. “Huh?”
‘Why would Mike fall for Rhea? No fucking way. Indeed, she’s beautiful and has a nice figure, not to
mention her high IQ. Still, she’s evil. Anastasia is way cuter and prettier than Rhea. W-Wait, why am I
comparing her to Anastasia?’
Austin tried to shake off those thoughts, thinking something was wrong with him. However, Alexander
did not notice Austin’s reaction because the former was in deep thought. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Seeing him so, Austin grew worried. “Hey, I was just trying to lighten the mood. Don’t take it too
seriously, okay? Perhaps Mike wasn’t thinking straight. People get fooled all the time, right?”
