Chapter 0092
Ding Dong!
The bell rung, and the sound echoed through the empty apartment.
Elijah, who was cooking up breakfast, paused and glanced in the direction of the door.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Who could that be? He thought, clearly not recalling inviting anyone over.
As he walked towards the door, he cringed at the thought of his father having sent one of his siblings down her to remind him of his purpose of coming here.
If that's the case, he'll simply tell them off and carry on with his life, because he sure as hell wasn't planning on marrying some spoilt brat who has even had the decency to approach him. Who did she think she was? Britney Spears?!
It was best if they both stayed in their separate lanes and Elijah intended to make that known to his father by every means.
However, the last thing he expected as he swung the door open was the sight of Amara standing at his gate.
She waved upon seeing him and he rushed to open the gate.
"Amara?"
"Hi Elijah," She greeted with a polite smile, making her way into his compound as he opened the gate. "Sorry for coming unannounced." Elijah shook his head. "No problem. What brings you here?"
"I..." She hesitated and Elijah wondered what had brought this sudden change. She had walked all the way to his house, was she backing out now? "You?" He pressed.
"I brought something to thank you for your hospitality, and helping me out the other day." She lifted the bag in her hand and Elijah's eyes narrowed. "It's nothing much, just a simple meal." She explained.
He glanced from the bag and her face, then nodded. "Thank you," He took the bag from her and smiled. "I'm sure it'd be delicious." Amara mirrored his smile, feeling relived. Now that she knew she had repaid him in a small way, she no longer felt indebted to him. Pointing backwards with her thumb, she announced. "I'll get going now."
Elijah nodded, but just as she turned around to leave, his voice stopped her. "Andrew told me you withdrew the case." "I did."
She looked over her shoulders and smiled, but the gesture was a far cry from the genuine smile she had just shown him.
It looked more like a coded version smile that warned him not to pry too much.
And Elijah took that warning.
He nodded. "Be careful."
The smile on Amara's lips extended and she walked away. "I'll see you around, neighbor."
With a nod, Elijah shut his gate and returned to the activity he had been doing, only this time, opting to taste the meal Amara had packed rather than the one he had prepared. It was good.
"Tobias,"
His ears perked up and he turned around, surprised to see Celestine walking through the doors of his house office.
She was carrying a brown totes bag with her, but Tobias found that he wasn't interested in what was in it. "Why are you here?" He asked.
Celestine placed the bag on the desk and smiled. "I heard you been occupied with work the past few days. I made food."
He eyed the back, nodding as his only means of acknowledgement before going back to work. Celestine was a bit hurt by this. Nonetheless, she smiled. "Let's eat together, Toby."
"I'm busy, Celeste." He glanced up only once at her. "Let's eat another time."
Celestine's expression completely crumbled after hearing this. This wasn't the first time Tobias had turned her down. Ever since that day
at the Store, he'd been acting weird.

At first, she chucked it up to him being caring for her, not wanting to stress her, but the past two days, he's basically distanced himself.
This wasn't how she planned things.
This wasn't how things were meant to turn out!
Celestine clenched her fist.
And this outcome, was all because of Amara. If only she could stop poking her nose in their business. If only she could just disappear... "Celestine."
She blinked, not realizing she had zoned out. Tobias was no longer seated and was looking at her with a worried gaze.
"Are you okay? You looked like you were in pain."
"I'm..." She forced a smile. "I'm fine. I'm sorry for coming unannounced and disturbing your work."
Tobias looked like he wanted to say something, but opted not to. He instead chose to nod.
"I know I've been busy the past few days. Let's go get you something on the weekend when I have the chance."
Slowly, Celestine nodded. Then an idea came to mind. "Would it be okay for me to get the empress's heart?"
Tobias's brows narrowed. "The one at the auction house."
She nodded and watched Tobias think for a little while before he nodded. "Sure, let's get that."
The smile that blossomed on Celestine's lips would have made her look like the most innocent soul. If not for the evil deeds she had done.
Friday rolled around pretty quickly. Before Amara knew it, she was dressed and ready to leave for the auction.
Arriving at the place, it was buzzing
from head to toe with aristocrats Amara thought of turning back but recalled how much Lorenzo swooned for Maria.
She huffed and stepped into the auction house.
"Hello," She greeted the host, presenting her attendance card.
"Miss Miller," Ronnie, the host
greeted her with respect, bowing "It's a pleasure to have you here. I've
heard so much from Mr.
Amara smiled. "Did he tell you about what I want?"
Crawford."
"Yes, but," Ronnie hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck. "There's been a higher pre bid on it."
Amara brows narrowed. "What?"
"Five million dollars, the bid just came in a few minutes ago."
"Who?"
"...Mr. Tobias William Larsen."
