Chapter 17 Back up
“I want you to have an open mind about this…” he started his words as they were having their morning coffee.
He looked at her appreciatively, as she was looking fresh and beautiful from her shower.
“Ian, I don’t have any other choice, of course, I’ll have an open mind.” She smiled when he hugged her from behind, and kissed her hair. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
He didn’t want to discuss her issues, he was savoring their intimate moment between them in the secluded cabin, knowing that he had to get back to the precinct in a couple more hours.
“Mhh… hmm, how open?” he took her cup and turn her around, he couldn’t seem to get enough of her. Though they had only slept for a couple of hours, he was wanting her again already.
“Ian…” she was moaning his name the second his kisses travel down to her neck.
“I should let you rest, I can’t seem to get enough of you.”
But she was feeling the same, she was liking his small little gesture towards her. She was liking that she woke up in his arms, she had never felt that before in her whole life.
“Oh fuck… baby,”
Grabbing him closer, she was not letting him pull back as she slitter her hand to his ass and bravely squeeze his ass making him curse. She was giggling, liking the idea that her touches could make him hard. She knows because she was feeling him while his breaths were hot against her neck.
“He’s going to be here at any moment. We should, damn it, Blair…”
“I like you, Ian, I can’t seem to stop myself too.”
They were kissing, breathing heavily when there was a knock on the front door making him tense immediately.
“Got to the bedroom and stay there, until I come for you.” He kissed her one last time before he pulled a gun from one of the kitchen drawers making her gasp.
“Go, now…” he whispered in her ear, and pulled her for a chaste kiss on her temple.
She was overwhelmed but did as she was told and go back to the only bedroom and wait for him.
Pacing herself back and forth, she was getting impatient, but then let out her breath when he came back into the room.
“They’re here, come I’ll introduce you.”
He took her hand and ushered her out of the room.
“Max, Luka this is Blair. Blair, this is my friend Maxim, and Luka, they’re in… private security and they had agreed to help me out with your case. So, you will need to give them your full name and complete story if we want this to work.”
She nodded and sit next to Ian, then Luka straightens his glasses and starts to unpack his backpack. Max started talking to Ian, while Blair was nervous about the whole situation.
“… my name is Olivia Blair Wright, I killed, shot my husband Benjamin Turner…”
She started her words, she looked pale Ian had thought. He took her hand and feel the cold palm matching her nervous expression.
“Blair, you’re among friends. Relax, okay?” Ian said rubbing her knuckles engulfing them with his hands.
Luka was setting up the recording device and told her to carry on with her story.
“Right… so, he had been abusing me… for a long time, I finally had enough when he killed my baby. After that incident I’ve been planning my getaway for months, even bought a gun which I hid in my hiding place. Then he came home one night, and beat me until I thought I was going to die…”
She could see that Ian was trying to look unaffected but he was showing. He looked terribly upset at that exact moment.
“… I killed him in his sleep, shot him in the head. Covered his face with a pillow and just shoot him…”
Luka was typing for information, then writing down some notes on his pad.
“Then I was like a zombie, I couldn’t think, my body was hurting. So, out of customary it was making me walk myself to the nearest hospital. They say I fainted by the side of the road…”
Ian was getting himself to the kitchen and retrieves the bottle of vodka. She saw Maxim was joining him for a glass. She knows he could still hear her, she knows her story was hitting him too close to home. To his mother, and she was feeling sorry for him.
“The young intern doctor took my vitals, I know she remembered me from previous visits. She offered me shelter, but I declined. I was going to run away and execute the rest of my plan.”
“I think her name is Rebecca…” she answered when Luka asked for the doctor’s name.
“And she documented all of your bruises, from that day and the previous ones?”
“Yes… she has a thick file each time she visited for my check-up. I think she also has my files from other hospitals that I’ve been…”
“I…” she wiped her tears when she was remembering all those hospital visits. She was upset with herself for being so stupid and letting Benjamin hurt her for so long.
Ian was by her side instantly, Max was carefully watching them. Then he was to Luka’s and was reading his pad and his laptop screen. They were whispering quietly, he was pointing at the screen several times.
“What?” Ian asked them, not letting go of his possessive hold on Blair.
“Rebecca, I think I know her. Luka is breaking the hospital records right now for her picture. Just to make sure we were thinking of the same Becca.”
Blair was tensed and Ian was pulling her closer to him.
“This could be your easy way out, Blair. We already know it was self-defense, but her running away would not look good on trial. If your doctor was the same Becca and her documentation was… wait, here’s the picture.” Max said as he twists the laptop screen to face Blair and Ian.
Then they all relaxed when she nodded to her picture. The beautiful young intern doctor was as she remembered.
“I don’t know how I’m going to… his family, they’re going to…”
“I got you, they have so much dirt that they would wish that their kid didn’t marry you in the first place.” Luka smiled deviously while typing on his expensive-looking laptop. He was showing Max his laptop screen.
“We have some dealings with them, if you want we could keep it hush-hush. And let the matter settle down on its own, you may need to get out of the country for a year. I can help you with that.” Maxim said looking at her then at Ian. He knows the probability of getting her out of the country was slim, looking at how attached his detective buddy was to Blair.
He was a bit taken back by his call, then his favor, but in his business favors will get you a long way. And one thing he despises was men abusing their women, he was a family man. A ruthless mob, but still a man who hates those who beat women for their enjoyment.
“I think she has enough for one day… come let me get you back to the bed, you should rest. I’ll finish up with the guys.”
Ian excused themselves and took her back to calm herself down. She was tucked in, then he was back talking to Max and Luka. He knows it was the right decision to call on the Markovs for a favor. He knows they could get things done faster and could dig dirt deeper. And knowing with their business range he was hoping that they would smooth things out for them, then was glad when they could give him a solution.
“You really cared about her.”
Max opened the conversation while pouring him another glass.
“She hits too close to home.”
Both Max and Ian converse, while they’re waiting on Luka to give them his complete preliminary findings.
“We need to clear her name, fast.”
“We will don’t you worry.”
Both drink, as Ian was thinking that he’d get his ass fired when they find out that he had been spending time with the mob boss in his cabin hideout harboring a killer.
