Chapter 242
Chapter 242
Emily ran into the police station in a manic manner. As soon as she saw Joyce, she pounced on her
and asked, "Joyce, what's going on? Where's Bryce?"
"Where have you been? Do you know that Bryce is missing? I called you thousands of times." Joyce
beat her as she wept.
Emily was very weak and almost fell down from her strike.
Sebastian hugged Joyce in time to stop her and spared Emily.
"Emily, go get registered first." As a man, Sebastian was calm and quickly dragged Emily to register
Bryce's information.
Emily, in a trance, was dragged by Sebastian, her mind going blank. She didn't even have the strength
to ask a question. In the end, the police assured them that they would investigate as soon as possible
and asked them not to be too worried. They also asked them to recall carefully whether they had
invoked any animosity that could result in the abduction of the child.
"Sir, Mr. Brent is here." Suddenly, a sentinel came and said to the police officer.
The police officer was stunned for a moment. Soon, the leader of the police station came out to greet
the man in an ingratiating manner. However, he did not dare to shake hands with him. A man in his
position wasn't enough to shake hands with that man.
Franklin's eyes were steely and he remained silent, but Jason beside him said a few words.
But Emily didn't hear or understand anything he said.
She had regained her senses and asked Joyce what was going on.
Joyce gradually calmed down, sobbing and recounting the story.
It turned out that a day ago in the afternoon, she asked Bryce to accompany Deny so that she and
Sebastian could liquidate the flower shop. The house was bought and the buyer was waiting for them
to move out.
The goods in the flower shop needed to be disposed of before they left.
No one paid much attention to the two children playing at the door. Suddenly, Deny burst into tears.
Joyce thought something had happened. When she ran over, she only saw Deny while Bryce was
nowhere to be found.
She immediately called around and asked the passers-by. She also checked the security camera but
found nothing unusual. The child seemed to have vanished out of thin air. They searched all over the
place but didn't find any clues and completely lost the trace of the child.
"Emily, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I was so negligent. It's all my fault." After Joyce finished speaking, she
cried guiltily.
If she hadn't been busy disposing of the goods with Sebastian, if she hadn't been so incautious as to
leave the two children alone, none of this would have happened.
Emily's was excruciating. When she looked up and saw Franklin, her eyes were bloodshot with rage.
She stood up and rushed to Franklin without hesitation. She slapped him on the face and said angrily,
"It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, Bryce wouldn't have disappeared. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't
have gotten the news so late."
Everyone looked at them in shock, especially Jason. His face turned pale with fear, and he did not even
dare to look at Mr. Brent's face.
It was the first time Mr. Brent had been slapped in public. One could imagine how offended he would
feel.
Sure enough, Franklin looked at Emily with a cold face silently. His eyes were icy and frightening as if
they were going to engulf Emily.
The air around them seemed to have frozen, and the two of them just stood there at a stalemate,
refusing to relent.
It was not until Deny in Joyce's arms woke up, cried loudly, and kept shouting "Brother, brother" that the
precarious atmosphere was broken.
Sebastian was a man after all and was composed enough.
He immediately asked Joyce to coax their daughter, and then stood up and said to Franklin, "Mr. Brent,
Emily was just too anxious and she was out of her mind. You're a man of leniency. Please don't be hard
on her. You are very powerful in Lancaster. Can you help us find the child?"
"Yes, help us find him." Joyce echoed and begged Franklin.
Franklin stared at Emily airily and said, "But I don't think she'd ask me for help."
Emily was taken aback. Franklin was throwing tantrums for she just slapped him.
Usually, she would definitely turn away and leave. She would rather die than implore him.
But it was her son, Bryce. If something happened to Bryce, she would live in hell.
"Please, please help me find my son, please." Emily implored Franklin.
Franklin looked indifferent.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
Emily gritted her teeth and relented her attitude, grabbing Franklin's arm, pleading again with a humble
expression, "Please help me find my child."
Tears kept falling like broken beads from her eyes.
Franklin looked at her with a frown. He had never seen her like this before. She actually debased
herself like this for someone else. Her eyes were swollen and watery and she almost knelt down.
Franklin felt poignant. She was so fraught only because it was her son with James.
She deemed her child with another man so precious that she didn't hesitate to hit him for that child. In
her eyes, what on earth was he?
All of a sudden, before Emily could see what happened, Franklin knocked her out.
Everyone looked at him in astonishment. What he did was so gratuitous.
Franklin himself was surprised by the relief he felt when he saw Emily's soft body fall because he no
longer had to see her degrade herself for someone else.
"Let's go." Franklin picked up Emily and said to Jason.
Jason nodded and left with him with a sullen face.
Joyce realized that Franklin did not promise to help them find the child and was taking Emily away.
No, she couldn't let Franklin do that.
She wanted to call the police, but it suddenly occurred to her that this was the police station. The police
were right in front of her, but no one stopped him. Nothing would change if she called the police. No
one dared to get in the way of Franklin.
"Mr. Brent, Franklin, you can't do this to Emily, and you can't just stand by. Bryce is your son." Joyce
blurted out the truth in excitement. Her voice was so loud that everyone heard her.
Franklin stopped abruptly with Emily in his arms. His back was straight, but he turned his head in
disbelief, trembling slightly.
"What did you say?" Franklin turned around and asked coldly.
Sebastian looked at Joyce in shock. He didn't know anything about it. Neither Joyce nor Emily had told
him.
"Bryce's name is Bryce The Andersons, but he's not James' son. He's your son. Soon after Emily left,
she found herself pregnant. She wanted to come back to you, but word came that you were engaged to
Avery so she stayed in Dover. She faked her marriage to James to give Bryce a formal identity. He is
named Bryce because he is your son, with your surname in his name."
