Giving Birth to The Italian Billionaire’s Baby

Part 22

Adaline groped around, trying to find where her phone was. Usually, she placed her phone not far from her bed, but why couldn’t she reach it?Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

She got up, rubbing her eyes. ‘Where am I?’ That was the first question that crossed her mind. Her eyes widened as her memory returned. Wasn’t she supposed to be on the way to Kansas? The last thing she remembered was being in Altezza’s car.

‘Did I fall asleep during the journey?’ Oh no, she embarrassed herself again. Quickly scanning the room and sharpening her hearing, she searched for her phone. She didn’t want her phone’s alarm to wake up the entire household.

‘There it is!’ She silently exclaimed as she saw her handbag lying on a square chair not far from her bed. Even her clothes bag was beside it. Adaline grabbed her bag, took out her phone, and turned off the alarm. After that, she threw herself onto the soft square chair.

The only light she had was from the standing lamp beside the nightstand. Adaline turned on her phone’s flashlight and searched for the lamp switch. The switch was not far from the nightstand itself. Adaline turned it on, and the room instantly brightened.

She gaped. The room was so spacious. On the left side of her bed, there was a long white sofa that matched the square chair she had just occupied. Right across the sofa, there was a flat-screen TV almost as big as a whiteboard.

Okay, maybe Adaline was being excessive. But indeed, the TV was enormous. ‘Isn’t the owner afraid their eyes will get damaged?’ Meanwhile, on the right side of her bed, there was an expensive-looking working desk that sparkled from a distance. On the desk, there was a set of computers with drawing tools Adaline didn’t understand the names and functions of.

On the other side of the desk, there was a partition that seemed to lead to a dressing room or perhaps a bathroom? Adaline walked towards the white door and opened it. As expected, it was a bathroom.

Wow, the owner of this place was really wow. Even the luxurious bathrooms of celebrities Adaline often saw on TV were not as extravagant as this.

Enough, Adaline couldn’t say a word. She stood motionless beneath the shower. Call her rustic, but she had never used a bathroom where the shower had so many buttons like this.

Alright, because she couldn’t adjust the water temperature and didn’t want to press the wrong button, she finally turned the blue-colored tap. Cold water immediately touched her palms.

Adaline stepped out of the bathroom and grabbed her belongings. After that, she intended to fulfill her needs, clean herself, and get ready to face Altezza’s family.

Adaline glanced at her watch again. It was already half-past six in the morning. She had finished everything half an hour ago. However, she felt afraid to leave the room. Occasionally, she swiped her phone screen until the black screen displayed her favorite wallpaper. She wanted to contact Altezza, but she was afraid of what she might have to say.

The sound of knocking startled her, causing her to drop her phone instantly. Fortunately, she was standing on the carpet, which was also very thick-luckily-and her phone didn’t fall directly onto the floor. If not, Adaline didn’t know how many pieces her phone would have shattered into.

“Miss, are you awake?”

“Yes!” Adaline yelled as she picked up her phone from the floor. The door opened instantly, and Altezza, looking fresh, appeared from there.

“I thought you were still sleeping, but it seems you’re already neat.” He continued, choosing to enter the room. “Looks like you’ve been up since earlier?” He examined the room, which was now tidy as if no one had slept there before.

“Uh-sorry, last night must have been inconvenient,” Adaline apologized with regret.

“Yes. Very inconvenient indeed,” Altezza replied, casually sitting on the bed. “I even had to sacrifice my bones to lean on the sofa out there and let someone else touch my favorite bed.” He continued, rubbing the bed he was sitting on.

Adaline looked at him in disbelief. She knew that Altezza was a bit peculiar, but she didn’t know he would be this eccentric.

“Should I apologize to your bed for touching it without permission?” Adaline spoke up. Altezza’s explosive laughter served as the answer to her question.

“I thought you would apologize to me because I willingly slept on the sofa, but you choose to apologize to the bed?” Altezza shook his head. “That’s not fair. You should pay more attention to me than to the sofa,” he said with a sad tone, leaving Adaline speechless. Shortly after, he stood up. “What do you prefer, having breakfast here with me, or with my family?”

Adaline frowned. ‘Breakfast here’ and ‘with my family’? Those were two different sentences, right? Adaline tried to understand their meaning, and a conclusion entered her mind. So, currently, she wasn’t with his family? Then, where was she now? And where was his family?

“We’re in my apartment, Miss. While my parents are at my brother’s house. Or perhaps you’d understand better if I say they’re at Antony’s house?” He answered, seemingly addressing the questions lingering in Adaline’s mind. Adaline responded with a blank stare.

So, since she woke up some time ago, what had Adaline been worried about? She had been creating various scenarios for the initial meeting with his family to make a good first impression. However, those plans were in vain because, in reality, his family wasn’t even here?

Oh God, she had been worrying about something she shouldn’t be afraid of if Altezza had told her from the beginning that she wouldn’t immediately meet his family.

But it wasn’t Altezza’s fault either, actually. It was her own fault for falling asleep in the car and not even realizing when someone moved her. She looked up at Altezza, intending to give him an answer. However, her response never came because he had already made a decision.

‘If he has already made a decision, why should he ask?’ Adaline grumbled inwardly but still followed her future husband.
