Chapter 32: People will think we’re hard on you.
“It’s sunny!”
Allyce walked out of the hospital doors. The warm sun shone on her body and her sombre mood became cheerful.
Severo walked beside him, the sunlight reflecting off his face and highlighting his features, his tall body mysteriously wrapped in a black shirt.
At Allyce’s words, he looked up at the sun overhead and turned to look at her: “What’s the party at home?
“Uh …”
Allyce hesitated for a moment. She wasn’t sure what Severo meant by this question. She didn’t want to offend Severo after the subtle change that had taken place inside her the night before.
“It’s a simple family gathering. We all meet at home once a month because we are usually very busy. So grandpa asked me to come as well”.
It had become an old habit, but it had nothing to do with her.
Looking at the stairs in front of him, Severo nodded and lifted one foot onto the steps before asking, “Are you going?
Allyce looked at her beautiful silhouette in the sunlight and spoke shyly: “Will you come with me?
Severo looked back at him, squinting in the sunlight: “I’d love to.
Allyce’s lips curved into a smile and they continued walking.
…
In the late afternoon, Allyce and Severo went together to Villa Delahoz.
Severo was still driving the flashy Rolls Royce.
Allyce sat in the passenger seat, clutching her seatbelt. He looked around the car and asked, “You didn’t give the car back to your friend?
“He has a lot. Severo’s eyes were focused on the road; he didn’t look at her for an answer.
“Did you also borrow the money for the bottle I broke? Wasn’t that a problem for him?” said Allyce, unconsciously ducking her head.
Severo finally turned to look at her with a slight smile in his eye. It seems I’ve given you too much trouble. I’ll return the car soon.
“I was just casually asking. She wasn’t trying to show concern for him. Anyway, he was Severo’s friend.
Severus said no more. They both remained silent for the rest of the journey and soon arrived at the village of Delahoz.
“Miss Allyce, you’re back!”
The doorman saw Allyce get out of the car and run to greet her.
Allyce looked at the doorman, no expression in her eyes, and dragged Severo into the villa with her.
In the living room, the Delahoz family was gathered.
Allyce addressed Casimir directly: “Grandfather!”
Casimiro, who was listening to Eric Delahoz’s conversation, merely raised his eyes to look at Allyce and grunted in acknowledgement.
Then his gaze fell on Severo, who was standing next to him, and his expression changed.
Seeing his face, Allyce immediately said, “Grandpa, this is Severo Betances.
.”
“Grandfather.” Severo stepped forward and nodded slightly. He said very politely, “I am Severo. I’m sorry to show up so late.
Despite the fact that Severo, as young and handsome as he was, stood before Casimiro in the most modest and polite manner, Casimiro could sense his extraordinary aura. He frowned at the information Senona had relayed to him about Severo.
“Now that you’re here, sit down. Casimiro didn’t seem to care much for Severo after the respect he had received from him.
Allyce pursed her lips, a glint of contempt in her eyes.
She expected this to happen. Casimiro was indifferent to her, but she hit on Severo anyway.
Allyce followed Severo to the other side and sat down. No sooner had he sat down than he heard Casimiro shout, “Now that you no longer live in the house, don’t you have any manners? Don’t you know how to greet your elders?”
Allyce’s expression changed. She wanted so badly to get up and leave immediately, but she couldn’t. She wanted to get up and leave.
She pulled Severo, who was about to get up, to stop. She stood up alone and walked expressionlessly towards the others, greeting them coldly one by one.
These people saw her as a thorn in their side. Now that they saw her wave without any expression on her face, they felt a little uncomfortable.
“It must have been hard for Allyce to come back here. Don’t be angry, grandfather. Senona immediately got up to play peacemaker and poured Casimir a cup of tea, cajoling him.
Casimir sipped his tea and his face relaxed. allyce laughed bitterly in his heart, but his face showed a kind expression: “Then I will come and stay here often from now on.
“Of course, you should come and stay here more often. What do you think it would be like if the second daughter of the Delahoz group no longer lived in her own house? If it got out, people would think we were being hard on you”.
Allyce knew that no one in the Delahoz family wanted her to come back to live, so she said it deliberately to try to drown them out a little. However, hearing Casimir’s forceful tone, she was actually ordering him to come home.
“Grandfather, I’d like to spend more time with you too, but how can a married granddaughter live at home? Allyce paused for a moment and turned to Severo.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Allyce knew in her heart that if she lived again, the rest of the family would eat her alive and not even leave her bones.
“Look at this girl dropping the word ‘marriage’. You’ll stay at home tonight and you’ll still be here afterwards”.
Hearing these words, Allyce thought there was something wrong. She tried to speak, but Casimiro continued. He said to Severo: “Don’t take her seriously, Mr. Betances, she likes to joke like that. My little granddaughter is always naughty and silly. You must have gone to a lot of trouble to take care of her during this time. If you need help here in Cloud City, just say so.”
Both by his words and his expression, Severo is seen as an outsider, and even his marriage is seen as Allyce’s “madness”.
Even the charitable tone of the last sentence is the same.
To put it bluntly, it completely separates Severo and Allyce by not giving them the opportunity to tell anyone that they are in fact legally married.
Severo looked at Casimiro with a smile that did not reach his eyes, a nobility in his flat expression that made Casimiro’s aggressiveness stand out even more.
Allyce sat there, stunned. It was Casimiro who had threatened to marry her, and now it was Casimiro who wanted her to divorce Severo.
He clenched his fists so hard that his fingernails dug into his soft palms, but he felt no pain.
He turned to look at Severo, his eyes full of concern.
I had not known Severo for long, but I knew of his innate sense of pride and nobility. He might not be able to handle Casimiro’s aggressiveness.
Unexpectedly, Severo merely gave him a reassuring smile.
Allyce relaxed a little and looked at Casimiro: “Grandfather, you were right. I’ve always been naughty and stupid. He has always looked after me. In the future I will change and get along with him. Thank you for teaching me.
Casimiro’s face turned green as he listened. A worthless bastard ignored what he had said; even his own granddaughter ignored his words. She had never been insulted like that.
Today, come what may, I had to get them divorced.
Casimiro stood up coldly and said to Allyce: “You’re coming with me to the studio!
