Chapter 262
Chapter 262
“Ouch!”
The one
who cried out in pain was Leah, whose wrist had been hit by the coffee cup’s saucer. With a “clang,” bo
th the bag and saucer fell to the ground, and she stepped back, holding her arm.
Everyone looked up in shock, only to see Estelle standing by the railing, staring coldly at Leah.
The sight of Estelle instinctively struck fear in Leah, who immediately huddled behind Nicolas without e
ven daring to cry out in pain.
Estelle walked down from upstairs and looked at Nicolas with an icy gaze. “Leave Norah alone, and get
the hell out of here now!”
Nicolas‘ face went pale, and he looked imploringly at Norah. “Norah, you know better than anyone how
sincere my feelings are for you, right?” Leah pulled Nicolas‘ arm and tried to drag him away. “Cousin, l
et’s go!”
Nicolas didn’t want to leave, knowing that if he did, he’d lose Norah for good.
Norah looked at him tearfully. “Fine, I’ll give you one chance. You can stay now, but you
must resign tomorrow and never see Leah again.”
Leah immediately protested. “Cousin, think about it! My dad said he’d promote you next month. You co
uld be a vice–president straight out of college! How many
of your peers can say that? But if you resign now, you’ll lose everything!”
Nicolas frowned tightly, seemingly hesitating, torn, and with his eyes full of pain.
Leah seized the opportunity to pull him
away. “Hurry up and get back to work. Don’t you have to meet with a client this afternoon?”
Nicolas reluctantly followed Leah out, shooting Norah a guilty glance. “Norah, wait for me. I’ll give you a
satisfactory explanation!”
A
Norah threw the bag and necklace at him. “Take your trash and get lost!”
Nicolas had already been dragged out by Leah, leaving Norah to collapse onto a
chair, covering her face and sobbing in agony.
Estelle walked over and patted her shoulder, silently accompanying her through the tears.
Cry it out, it’ll be better after you let it out!
Norah hugged Estelle, her cries growing even more heartbroken and painful.
Estelle thought to herself: Nicolas must really like Norah, right? He tried to struggle between love and
money, but he loved himself more. The promise of a VP position made him give up on Norah.

locked herself in her room for two days, so Henson secretly called Estelle. “What happened to my siste
r? My mom and dad
are on a business trip, and my grandma is getting anxious. She says if my sister doesn’t open the
door, she’ll call my dad and uncle.”
Estelle replied, “Your sister had a breakup.”
Henson suddenly realized,
“No wonder. Isn’t it normal to have breakups? My deskmate has had several breakups, but he
hasn’t made such a fuss.”
Estelle was speechless. “I’ll give your sister a call.”
Henson agreed. “Yeah, please talk to her. If all else fails, she can just find another boyfriend.”
Estelle, “…”
When Norah was in a relationship, Henson was nothing but disdainful. But now
that she’d gone through a breakup, he wanted her to find another boyfriend. It was obvious that he reall
y cared about his sister.
After hanging up, Estelle called Norah. After four or five rings, the call finally connected. Norah
sounded relatively composed. “Estelle.”
“Has Nicolas contacted you again?” Estelle asked.
Norah hesitated, as if trying to hold back something. After a while, she finally said, “He did. I insisted
on breaking up with him, and you know what he said? He accused me of being vain and
materialistic, saying that I wanted to break up with him because I was mad that
the necklace and bag he gave me were fake.”
Norah’s voice choked with emotion. “I can’t believe I was so blind before. How could I ever fall for a g
uy like that?”
