Chapter 309
Snow and Jonathan were cruising in the same car.
Jonathan spoke with a casual tone, "You better watch out, that guy might be hitting the bottle pretty hard."
Snow chuckled, "No worries, we haven't seen each other for a long time. It's okay to have a few extra drinks when you catch up."
Jonathan smiled, appreciating how easy it was to communicate with someone as sharp as Snow. Originally, the two were mere acquaintances; now, they had become friends. And friends, naturally stay united! The barbecue place Manny had recommended was no ordinary street stall but rather a more upscale establishment located by the river. It was a two-story building, with the second floor designed as an open- air space, separated into semi-private booths with screens, a setup often reserved for celebrities.
Upon arrival, Quintessa headed straight to the second floor, leaving Manny to order downstairs.
Tyrone was a step behind her. The skewers weren't served yet, but the table was already full of beer and spirits.
Jonathan glanced at the table and felt a heartache, still feeling the effects of a heavy drinking session from two nights ago. Snow quietly observed the selection of drinks and gave Jonathan a sidelong glance. Tyrone suggested with a grin, "It's no fun just eating without drinks. Let's play a game."
He produced a deck of cards, tossed it to Manny for dealing. Each person received three cards to compare sizes. The loser drinks!
Tyrone's method was straightforward.
Quintessa, holding a bottle of beer, watched coldly from the sidelines. Within the first ten rounds, Tyrone had lost six times, and three empty bottles already stood before him, adhering to their rule of drinking half a beer per loss.
Manny, watching them down their drinks incessantly, sensing the tense atmosphere over the dining table, "Quinn, isn't this a bit too intense? Aren't you going to step in?"
"What's there to intervene? This grilled mushroom is pretty good, get me a few more skewers."
"Alright."
Quintessa realized Snow and Jonathan had teamed up against Tyrone. Tyrone must have realized it, too, but he hadn't said anything, keeping one wondering what he was plotting.
Having downed six beers without
batting an eyelid, Tyrone was ready for another found. He announced, "Let's switch things up. If I lose this round, everything on this table is on me. But if I win, you two, split it, how's that? Think about it; it actually you two getting the better deal. Be men, and you'll play. If not, better to back out now."
With Tyrone's challenge laid out and Quintessa watching, Snow nodded.
As the three revealed their cards, Tyrone said with a smile, "Sorry, gents, looks like I win. A bet's a bet, please do the honors."
Jonathan's face darkened, realizing
Tyrone had likely been losing on purpose earlier to lower their guard, aiming to take them down in one fell swoop. If he drank all that, he would sure to be floored. He touched his nose, "My doctor said I shouldn't drink excessively these next few days."
Tyrone cracked open a lobster, "Come on, uncle, that's no fun. If you couldn't handle it, you shouldn't have played. I won't pick on the elderly but you agreed, and backing out now is just weak. What would Quinn think of you?" This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
After peeling the lobster, he removed the vein and offered it to Quintessa.
Quintessa froze, and Tyrone said, "Come on, open up. Have a couple of bites. Later, I'll take you to eat something really good."
Snow and Jonathan both looked at Quintessa, who suddenly felt her face heating up, her heart racing unexpectedly.
