Chapter 7
Chloe stared at the lady standing before her, she wasn’t able to smile nor was she able to break out in tears.
But the truth be told, she wasn’t expecting the lady she met. She had thought of setting her eyes on Vanessa once she let the door open, only for her to come in contact with a stranger.
She stepped towards her dad and gripped his palm, like it wasn’t much for her, she wrapped her palm around his waist.
Lilian stepped closer to Xavier, she embraced her while he placed a kiss on her lips.
“I forbid this to ever happen. Don’t tell me you’re so serious about getting a wife dad, we don’t need any woman in this home, or you think we’re joking about it?” Tracy yelled at him.
Lilian was so shocked, she couldn’t believe the children would screech at their father just because of her presence.
“She’s my wife to be, you got it right.”
“You don’t need anyone to replace mum in this house, not as a wife or a mother. Dad, we love being without any, just tell her to leave please.” Ben shrieked.
Xavier was speechless, he never knew his children were so serious that all they wanted was to be alone.
“Do you realize that she will never treat us like our mother? What if we pass through hell staying with her? You need to take action before it’s too late dad.” Tracy started trying to hold her anger this time.
Chloe hit her dad’s thigh to draw his attention. “Dad, why did you kiss her when you are not sure if she washed her mouth before coming?”
Their eyes widened. Xavier tried shutting her up but she kicked off his palm.
Lilian couldn’t stop glaring at the little girl that was less haunted by the sentence she made, all she needed at the moment was to visit her babysitter.
“Don’t worry dad, you will contact bacteria soon.” Tracy declared, looking off.
“You aren’t scared of mum, that’s why you had to kiss her in our presence. You should rewash your mouth or I won’t let you peck me again.” Ben added expressing deep hatred towards the lady.
Lilian shook her head, she clutched her palms together while glancing at the children with chiseled faces.
“Shut your sticky mouth before I help you do that. You aren’t the ones to tell me the decision to take, I have the right to do whatever I want in this home. For crying out loud, you all are my children and should give me a listening ear.” Xavier scolded his children.
Chloe lifted her face and snapped his face. “I am not your child until you employ ma’am Vanessa to be my babysitter.”
She turned to face Lilian. “You cannot babysit me. I can see that boldly written on your face.”
Xavier tried to shut her mouth which made Chloe leave the sitting room so angrily. Before Ben could dash out after her, she had left the compound.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Vanessa was so busy with her baked items that when she had a footstep in her bakery, she stood erect to know who was there only to see Chloe seated on one of the seats.
She smiled within her pretending not to see her.
“Ma’am Vanessa, little Chloe is here,” Chloe announced to her.
She had already snapped her face to see how twisted it was. She already knew the reason behind her coming.
“How are you doing, sweetheart?” Vanessa referred to the little girl.
She smiled and jumped into her arms. Vanessa got seated while she felt comfortable seating on her thighs.
“You look so sweet this morning. You brought a parcel for me?” She referred to the little girl on her thighs.
She shook her head, “I didn’t come with any parcel, rather I’m here so you will grant me a request that means a lot more to me than a parcel.”
Vanessa stretched her lips into a wide smile, she already knew what the request was all about.
“Now tell me about the request, I’m all ears,” Nessa uttered to her.
She stared into her eyes and frowned. “Dad told me he discussed it with you, I believe he told you that I want a babysitter and it should be you.”
“Yes, he told me. But I concluded it was a joke.” She replied.
Chloe shook her head. “It’s never a joke ma’am Vanessa. I’ve been thinking about you all day and night from the first day I came to your bakery. You wouldn’t believe that I miss you every second, that’s why I want you to be my babysitter so I’ll always set my eyes on you.”
“Sweetheart, you’re aware that this is my bakery. If I become your babysitter, who then will look after it? I started this bakery with my hard-earned savings and won’t love to see it collapse.”
She swallowed deeply.
“There are many other options left, your dad to employ someone else for you. Or better still, you have a mother who’s already taking good care of you.” Nessa added.
Chloe broke out in tears, she couldn’t hold it anymore when Vanessa spoke about her mother.
“My mother is late, and my siblings aren’t taking care of me as a mother does. That’s why I need someone who can treat me just like my mother would have done if she were alive. Ma’am Vanessa you can do this for me, please don’t let me down again.” Chloe uttered politely.
Watching the little girl shed tears was one thing she couldn’t bear. All through her life, she has loved little children so much that their tears hurt her deep down.
She heaved a big sigh of relief and began cuddling her so she would stop shedding tears.
“But your father can get married to another woman, she will take care of you,” Vanessa stated.
She shook her head. “Dad doesn’t want to get married, and we won’t let him do so.”
Vanessa thought of any other option to save the little girl the pain of living without a mother.
She couldn’t get one, not even an idea hit her head.
She decided to give in to the job for the sake of the love binding them together, but that will be on one condition.
Her eyes met with that of Chloe, and she smiled.
“I’ll have to see your father first to tell him my conditions. It will take me some time to get used to being your babysitter. But then, that means I’ll come around to your home when I’m done with today’s business.” Vanessa remarked.
Chloe wiped off the tears on her cheek. “It’s okay, I’ll wait patiently for you, but please don’t make the conditions tough okay.”
“It’s alright sweetheart, you have to get going before dad gets worried about you.”
She watched Chloe get off her thighs and left the bakery after waving her goodbye.

In the evening, Vanessa was done with her business. She locked up her bakery and decided to go meet Xavier about the discussion she had with Chloe.
She left the building and unlocked the gate which was so easy to do. She stepped in to get Chloe seating on the veranda busy with her toy.
Her eyes explored the building thoroughly, she admired how beautiful it looked.
This is definite proof to her that Xavier is a billionaire he doesn’t need to think about it the second time.
Chloe sighted her presence and ran towards her, she embraced her and was lifted into her arms.
“Dad is busy in the sitting room with my siblings.” Chloe narrated.
She stepped towards the door and rang the bell, Chloe ordered her to step in since they were both together.
Then she let her down and let the door open herself.
Xavier turned to get the lady standing some miles away from him, their eyes met as they exchanged pleasantries.
While she studied the room, she caught Tracy and Ben seated opposite their father, and then the lady who was stepping down the stairs.
Her eyes narrowed as she watched her walk down to Xavier and got seated beside him.
She felt her heart sinking into her stomach when she rested her head on his shoulder. Trying to comport herself in order not to drag the lady away from him.
But who the hell is she trying to spoil her feelings at the moment? The question kept roaming in her mind but she couldn’t answer it.
