Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Mysterious Allison
“Are you sure its going to stop?” Claire called at Mira who had just run into the ocean waving her hands. They had been doing that since the moment they saw the ship, but they were at odds. Obviously the sailor didn’t see them. If he did, wouldn’t he be coming to them? “It’s futile. There’s no point shouting anymore.”
Claire tried to stop Mira who refused to give up. Mira kept waving her hands, yelling on top of her voice. All she wanted was to be heard. The rest of the girls didn’t have the strength anymore. They haven’t had any good food since days now. “Enough, Mira.”
Claire held Mira from the back but Mira pushed her away.
“Let me go.”
Mira turned back to the ocean, jumping and waving. It was hard to keep doing that since the waves kept crashing against her ankles. But she didn’t stop. Seeing that the boat was no longer in sight, meaning her hope was lost, she dropped in the ocean, seating in the furios waves. She started to bawl her eyes out. She couldn’t hide her frustration anymore.
Claire and Lisa walked to her and helped her out of the waves. She didn’t fight this time. They made her sit on the warm part of the shore.
“We are all frustrated too, Mira. We are.”
Evelyn’s words did nothing but break the tube holding back some tears. Mira became very loud, loud enough that Laurette had no choice but to hug her. One to console her, two to muffle the noise so that they don’t alert any wild animal.
“When will we go home. I miss mom and Alex. Are we never going to leave this place? Will we die here?”
Mira was swelling up. Her words knew a generous amount of pauses because of the wailing.
“We all want to go home. We’ll have to hold out strong till we find someone to rescue us. I’m sure that the president won’t stay silent if he didn’t see us return… he’ll always send people out to rescue us. But pending that time, let’s survive. Only the living can be rescued, not a corpse. We have a reason to survive… that should keep us going.” Claire took a pause. All the girls had their eyes glued on her like she was some college professor telling some breathtaking history. “For now, let’s forget about the rescue. I hate to admit it, but I think I’m beginning to see why Damien decided to invest in the building.”
“Are you suggesting that we return to him?” Mira seemed to be quick to forget about the pain. Claire shook her head at her.
Min An
“I’m not sure what I mean. Let’s just keep on going, the nearest future will test the circumstance.”
Each of the girls kept their gaze on Claire. It was strange that they were hearing such from her. Perhaps the fact that Mira broke down not long ago gave her a new understanding of their condition. She probably realized that there was no point holding on to ego and pride.
“But we are not going to give up the rescue sign. Let’s plant it right way.” Laurette kindled the team spirit and some few girls followed her. It felt refreshing to see the girls so determined.
Damien had started the watchtower. It was tougher than he thought it would be. He decided not to build it at the former location where he had used the help of Claire and co. But with the help of some skills he exchanged out of sheer will, it was quite easy and smooth to move the logs and planks he had cut.
It took a day and half to complete the watchtower. He was glad that he was able to complete the tower before night fall. He had wanted to make wooden stairs which would make it easier to climb up the tree with a large flat top, on which the tower was seating; a baobab tree. But he realized that he might be at disadvantage. Some random person might just climb up it. He didn’t want that.
Also, the location of the watchtower from the castle was not really far. He masked the path and disguised the tower. He had every reason to do those.
He climbed up the tower and looked. The sky was becoming gloomy, so he couldn’t catch a clear view of things. But as far as he it gets, he could see the beach. He traced the shore with his eyes to find its end, but the night wouldn’t him. He gave up and climbed down.
“Tomorrow is another day.”
He promised himself and headed to the castle. As he approached, he could see smoke coming from the window of the kitchen.
“What’s she up to?”
He muttered, walking briskly. He wasn’t scared that she might ruin something or everything. He just wanted to be sure of what she was doing.
He walked into the hardly furnished living room then to the kitchen. Getting to the door of the kitchen, he noticed that she was cooking. Her back to him. It was strange that she didn’t notice him. Yet.
Mysteriously, Allison had been proving herself useful to him. Though he didn’t want to admit to her efforts yet. Aside the fact that she made sure the compound was clean and scrubbed the necessary places, going to the waterfall to fetch water. Even though he’d told her several times to use the water
dispenser. Aside all those, she had never bothered asking him where he always go to. He loved that she respected his privacy. But then she might be up to her usual tricks.
“What are we having for the night?” His voice startled her, making her drop the knife in her hand.
“Oh sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” “No it’s fine. When did you get in?” She picked up the knife and turned to him. “Few seconds ago.” “It’s strange how I didn’t know that you walked in.” He walked to her and peeped at what she was doing. She was grilling meat, adding some sauce he had put in the cupboard. “Looks delicious.” “Thank you.” She gave him the killer smile. “This is the only thing I can do for the man I owe my life too.” And that was it again. Allison spelling out her emotions word for word. Something that had never happened with her before. Though it was unfair to say, but whatever experience she had with the cannibals really worked a magic. OR IT MIGHT BE SOME OTHER TYPE OF HER TRICK. PROBABLY ANOTHER LEVEL. He thought. “Or maybe there’s another way I could repay you.” She walked slowly to him. He knew what she meant by that. And of course he liked her too. Of all the girls, she had fuller lips and she was thicker. Her velvet skin smooth, her long gold hair, sleek, gracing the highlights of her face. He’d fantasized about her big titties which were exposed at that moment… he’d imagined tracing his tongue around her nipples. She got to him and slowly brought her face closer, warm breath from her nostrils washing his face. Their lips almost met.
“The meat is burning.”
He threw his face away.
“Oh, the meat.” All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
He could tell that she was so shocked. A loser like him could turn down a hot actress who was always the talk of the town like her.
Damien considered the flat grilling plate he had made from the wire he used for binding the fences. He wanted to make real plates from the wire too, but it wouldn’t be able to hold food in. They still eat in coconut bark. He still had a long away to go. Plus, having a pool in the compound wouldn’t be a bad choice too. After all, with the system almost everything is possible.
With those thoughts on his mind, “You can serve yourself dinner. I’ll go to bed first. Perhaps I’ll be hungry come midnight.”
He walked away. Remembering something, he halted at the door and turned slowly to her. He couldn’t explain what was going on in her mind with the look on her face.
“Oh, let’s make this clear. If you’re uncomfortable with living with me, you can always go to the girls. I won’t hold it against you. I’m used to it.”
He smiled and walked away. Then he remembered!!!! He didn’t get any rewards for the watchtower.
IS THE SYSTEM BROKEN? That was enough to think about before sleep kicks in.
