Chapter 168 Interview James
Betty and her colleagues prepared the materials and set out to interview James.
However, the magazine’s interview cars were all sent out, so they had to take a taxi to interview James by themselves.
Betty came to the street and reached for a taxi. A taxi quickly rushed over, and suddenly stopped in front of her.
The driver was an ordinary middle-aged man. He was very excited to see Betty.
He said, “Mrs. Martin! You must be Mrs. Martin. Please get in the car. Where are you going? I’ll take you there!’
Sarah and Kevin were stunned, and Sarah said, “Betty, seriously? Even the taxi’s driver knows you.”
Kevin had already got into the taxi. He said to them, “Stop chatting. Get in the car.”
Betty sat in the co-driver’s seat.
The driver looked sidelong at her.
Betty felt itchy all over.
The driver said, “You are the wife of the president of the Tylman Group, right? Don’t you have a personal driver?”
Betty swallowed and said, “Yes, I am Mrs.
Martin. We are going to interview someone in the Colson Cultural Center.”
“The antique exhibition?”
Sarah said, “You know it?”
The driver smiled and said proudly, “Sure, taxi drivers are Jacks of all trades. The exhibits in this antique exhibition are special and interesting. It’s worth seeing.”
Kevin and Sarah were very excited after hearing that, so they asked the driver a lot of questions and chatted with him.
Betty sat in the taxi quietly, and she just wanted to get to the Colson Cultural Center as soon as possible.
They finally got there. Betty got out of the car and was relieved.
How come the people of the whole city seem to know her in one day? It was so scary, like a nightmare.
Kevin wanted to buy water in the small supermarket at the door. Betty volunteered and said that she would buy it for them.
After she arrived at the supermarket, she stood before the shelf and wondered which brand of water was better.
She felt as if there were eyes staring at her behind.
She suddenly turned around and found that it was the salesperson of the supermarket who was looking at her. Did she think she was a thief? Betty was upset.
She bought water and some food, and went to the counter with an indifferent expression.
The salesperson took no notice of her expression and said with a smile, “Mrs.
Martin, it’s a great honor to have you in our supermarket.”
Betty thought to herself. Oh my God, I was recognized again. Enough is enough.
The salesperson stretched her head and looked at the door for a long time.
Betty also looked at the door. Nobody was there.
The salesperson asked, “Mr. Martin didn’t come?”
Betty was speechless. She shook her head at her and said, “I’m here to work. You know, the antique exhibition.”
“Oh, I see.” The salesperson seemed very disappointed.
Betty walked out of the supermarket with the things she bought. Sarah and Kevin said,
“Betty, what took you so long? The antique exhibition has already begun.”
“Oh, drop it. I was recognized again. It’s horrible.”
Kevin and Sarah smiled at each other.
Betty knew Kerwin was influential, but only when she experienced it personally did she realize how influential Kerwin was. Only
Kerwin’s coldness could suppress such influence.
They came to the exhibition hall of the antique exhibition.
James was explaining the origin of an ancient ceramic vase to a customer.
Sarah saw this handsome guy at a glance!
She said, “Oh my God, he’s real, not from comics? He’s so beautiful.”
Kevin saw James and said in a jealous tone, “Another handsome guy! Oh, for god’s sake. How can we ordinary young men find girlfriends? These handsome guys would attract all their attention.”
Betty said, “Alright, you two, let’s get our interview finished.”
James saw Betty and her colleagues standing aside waiting for him. He muttered a few words to the customer and walked up to them.
He was wearing a white shirt with dark stripes. The faint perfume on him filled their noses and lightened their mood.
He was smiling, and the look in his bright eyes was cheerful.
Sarah was dumbfounded.
James’s fingers were slender and clean. He was carrying himself erect, and his hair was soft and perfectly coiffed. He looked like a noble.
“Betty White?” James said. “It’s really you. Nice to meet you.”
He stretched out his hand and greeted her gentlemanly.
Betty readily shook hands with him and said,
“Nice to see you, too, Mr. Davis.”
James’s voice was melodious which was completely unlike Kerwin’s cold voice.
Betty replied, “Yes, I’m Betty. Our Filson
Magazine is here to interview you. Thank you for accepting our interview. My apology for the small clash we had at the auction before.”
James smiled, narrowing his eyes. His expression was cute.
He said, “Jeffrey is an old acquaintance of mine, and I should show him some respect. I just didn’t expect that he would send you to interview me. It’s interesting.”
James knew Kerwin, so he naturally knew Jeffrey. Betty thought.
The Davis family was one of the three families in Chicago. The Davis family, the Thomas family, and the Martin family had complicated connections. They did business. with each other and helped each other in the business world. Moreover, they had been partners for generations.
The Davis family’s main business was the antique business. They even did their business in overseas markets and their business was famous in Chicago. Their family members were scholars for generations, so they knew history and antiques very well, and they were also very appealing and influential.
The Martin family produced soldiers for generations, so Kerwin was possessive and domineering. He was more like a tough guy. NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
If Kerwin weren’t in the wheelchair, Betty felt that he could even go directly to the battlefield to join the war.
The Thomas family was all businessmen and they were influential in the business world.
Before the interview, Betty found some information about James, so she learned something about the Davis family in recent years.
James and Julia’s parents had died long ago. They kept each other company for many years. James was young but prudent and capable. He managed their family business. while taking care of his younger sister.
However, his only family, Julia, was killed in the fire ten years ago. He must has been devastated at that time.
Now, James was the only one alive in the
Davis family, trying to keep the family prosperous. It was said that the Davis family was already declining in every aspect.
But Betty didn’t think so. Maybe the Davis family was just in a trough. In her eyes, James was a wise man, and he would get through the difficulties.
A starved camel was still bigger than a horse. Betty stopped thinking about it and began to interview James.
