Chapter 661
Chapter 661 Moving?
Olive's POV
After Charlie finished speaking, the family doctor didn't respond immediately, but I had already got what he was hinting at
He wasn't planning to spill the beans about everything that went down in the past. Instead, he wanted to take me and our son outta here, maybe even leaving New York, so that I'd never have to think about the past again
That definitely confirmed for me that what the family doctor said about PTSD was legit
That was to say, I have gone through traumas in this house in a way that I couldn't heal from
And Charlie might be the one causing those traumas
Honestly, after learning all this, I was kinda at a loss on how to deal with the guy sitting across from me
But when I saw him looking just as lost, cautiously asking the family doctor if leaving this place would help my recovery, I wavered again in my desire to know everything that had happened in the past
"Are you sure you want to move, Mr. Marilyn?" The family doctor paused for a second, glancing at Charlie before turning his gaze back to me
"Although the current environment may make you sense the unpleasant events that had happened in the past, it's actually a sign that those memories are resurfacing. If you move away from here, it could stop those memories
from messing with your head. However, the chances of recovery will also diminish."
I knew when he talked about "chances of recovery," he meant recalling everything from the past and restoring my original memories
But clearly, everything that had gone down recently showed that if I remembered it all, the harmony in my family would be completely shattered
That wasn't something I wanted to see happen- and definitely not something Charlie wanted either
We'd worked hard for this peace; we all just wanted a peaceful and stable family
Plus, no matter what went down in the past, I could feel his genuine feelings for me now
He was trying so hard to get us back on track, and I didn't want to disappoint him
"It's okay. I don't care if I can recover or not." I finally looked at the family doctor and spoke my mind
When he furrowed his brow in great astonishment, I simply smiled and repeated the words I had just said, very firmly
That was when Charlie turned his gaze toward me

Locking eyes with him and ignoring anyone else around us, I urgently made my stance clear
"Charlie, I don't know what happened in the past, and I'm not interested in it. All I know is that we just agreed to start over. If my so-called recovery comes at the expense of this family,
then I'd rather not recover."
It was just losing some memories. Not a big deal for me, really
Besides, it seemed like those memories weren't even good ones anyway
I saw a trace of disbelief in Charlie's eyes as his gaze wandered between me and the family doctor
Finally, he hesitated and asked the doctor again with some difficulty, "If it is really as she said, we'll no longer care about those past memories,
will that affect her health?"
He was probably worried about whether I'd still get occasional headaches like I did now. After all, memories were elusive, and whether I could recall past events shouldn't mess with my physical health
But those nasty headaches were another story
They kept me up at night and seriously messed with our daily lives, and nobody wanted that
To be honest, I also wished that the family doctor would give us a definite answer
If he said that after we moved, I would be able to have a normal life like any other person while losing part of my memory, I was totally down for it
But the reason why doctors became who they Were, as opposed to ordinary people, was that they were excessively meticulous
Our family doctor still didn't give an immediate answer. He looked like he was weighing things carefully before finally telling Charlie it wasn't
something he could decide just by looking at it
"I suggest that you go back to the hospital for a full check-up to see if her other indicators would be affected. Mrs. Marilyn's condition is quite complicated, and only conclusions drawn from scientific instruments can be considered reliable."
What he said made complete sense, so even though he didn't give any constructive advice, Charlie still politely saw him off and said he would take me to the hospital for a follow-up examination
I originally thought this was just him brushing off the doctor's suggestion. After all, he had already planned on moving us away and even leaving New York, so what difference would it make whether I had a follow-up examination or not?Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
But then when I heard him call up the hospital to set everything up and insist they make sure every detail got checked thoroughly, it hit somewhere soft inside me again unexpectedly
