Chapter 214
Looking at Frederick, Alicia thought that he might have something urgent to do. She stopped eating and asked, "Who was that? If you're busy, I can finish all these by myself. But, before you go, have some of this!"
She pushed all the potato wedges to his front.
Frederick returned to his senses. He gave a small smile and replied, "It's okay, I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying with you today! Hurry up and eat! It won't taste as good if the dishes cool off completely."
He was indeed getting hungry. He shoved a potato wedge into his mouth before replying to Danica's messages.
[Where are you? What exactly are you busy doing these days?]
[Why don’t you answer my call?]
[Are you with another woman? I saw you...]
[Are you avoiding me?]
Looking at all the messages flashing on his phone, he was utterly annoyed. He thought of ignoring Danicatogive her some time to prepare before he talked things out with her. Of course, it would be better if she got the hint and figured things out on her own.
He did not expect that his plans would turn into a mess after Alicia's accident. At this moment, he was displeased at Danica. He did not even want to see her name on his phone.
He no longer beat around the bush as he replied, "I'm with my wife! If there's anything, call Chet!'
After that, he turned off his phone and continued the meal.
From across the table, Alicia put some fish fillets on his plate. "Hubby, these are your favorite!"
During their lunch, Alicia could not stop talking. As soon as she thought of something interesting, she would tell Frederick everything in detail. He was fairly interested in listening to her talk.
When he had things to deal with, she would obediently silence herself and continue eating. Regardless of whether she trusted him, she would casually ask about the people who contacted him but she would never press on with further questions.
He felt relaxed around her because of this.
Once he settled his business, he would find that she had arranged all the newly- served dishes for him and added food to his plate. He was touched by her considerate, sweet gestures.
They had their lunch for a long time that day, warmth and happiness surrounding them.
On the other hand, Danica was in disbelief as she received Frederick's reply. She grasped her phone, staring at the message. Her hands were trembling. Did he reject her call to be with another woman? All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
He was busy? That was because he was with another woman! He was actually... taking care of another woman's feelings?
Upon walking out of the restaurant, Alicia's belly bulged slightly. She had a satisfied smile. "I'm so full! Their steak was great!"
"If you like it, I'll bring you here more often!"
"Okay!"
She held his hand and said, "Let's go for a walk before going back. I'm so stuffed, I need to digest the food!"
"Sure!"
Frederick held her hand and looked back. He noticed that her neck was exposed in the cold air and her clothes were quite thin as well. The sky was getting darker and the air was growing chilly.
They returned to the car, placing all the things they have bought inside it. He then took out his jacket and put it on her. "Don't you know to dress warmer when you're outside? Your clothes are so thin, what if you catch a cold again?"
He pulled the jacket snug and tight around her, and the thought of her in Jeremy's jacket appeared out of nowhere. Frederick stroked her face and tidied her hair.
"From now on, you're not allowed to wear other men's clothing. You can only wear mine, you got that?"
She looked better in his clothes!
This thought had never crossed his mind. In the past, when any woman's scent accidentally got on his clothes, he would have been in disdain, wanting to throw them away immediately. Despite that, he gave his jacket to Alicia at this moment.
"Alright! You smell so nice, I like the smell of your jacket too," Alicia replied.
She pointed to another area of the street which had a lot of men's clothing. She held his hand and said, "Let's get some clothes for you too! I'll feel bad if I'm the only one who bought so many."
Alicia's brain was running speedily. What if he demanded to have her that night as a return for buying her clothes when they went home? She could not let him have an excuse to do it and tire her
out again!
"Sure! That is so thoughtful of you," he replied, not knowing what she was up to this time.
He saw her eyes full of mischief and knew that it was not as simple as she said. Nevertheless, he did not think about it much and led her to the area.
"Just tell me if there's anything you like. We don't get to do this often, you know that?"
He had especially taken leave for two days to accompany her. Who knew when would be their next outing together? He even skipped a meeting a couple of days ago. He could imagine the pending work and all the things he had to catch up with when he returned to his office!
"Of course! Since you love me so much, I must think of whatever you are missing!" Alicia replied.
They strolled on the streets leisurely. Alicia ended up window shopping as she knew all of Frederick's clothes were custom-made.
She realized that she had never bought him a gift before. However, it was hard for her to give him a satisfying present due to her finance and his wealth. Even so, she wanted to get him something. She secretly sighed in glum.
Her gaze fell across a row of patterned neckties and she pulled him over.
"Do you like this?"
She chose a blue-black tie with a subtle pattern and held it near to Frederick's neck. It matched him very well but she felt that the quality was not up to par even with her standards!
Frederick was about to say something when he noticed her gaze turning blank. He turned around and saw Jeremy, who was standing right at the entrance. Jeremy was staring at both Frederick and
Alicia.
He looked back to see that she had already put the tie back. "What a bummer! Hubby, let's go somewhere else. What a wet blanket!"
What a coincidence! She was happily shopping and he showed up all of a sudden. Alicia was really agitated.
Frederick also disliked Alicia and Jeremy exchanging gazes. He held her waist lightly, standing in their line of sight. "Sure! The shoes over there look nice!"
They left from another entrance and went straight into a high-end women's shoe store.
They walked around the store and a pair of flat leather shoes caught Alicia's attention. It was very stylish and uniquely designed. One of the shoes had a smiley face on it while its pair had a sad face on it. Alicia found it adorable.
She showed them to Frederick while tugging at his arm. "I want these...¹'
Why did she have such a bizarre taste in things? Frederick wondered. They did not look like a pair, they seemed more like they were mismatched!
How did she find these dowdy shoes beautiful? Meanwhile, the salesperson started to promote the shoes enthusiastically.
"You have really good taste, these are our limited edition collection this year. There are only a total of 500 pairs around the world and we only have one pair of these for every shoe size! Since they fit you so well, it must be your luck! I guarantee that these are one of a kind. Look at the smiley face and sad face. It means that no matter if you're feeling good or bad, once you wear them on, the path you walk will get better and better!"
The salesperson was really persuasive. She made Alicia like the shoes even more.
