Chapter 207
Danica was the one who had called; she wanted to ask Frederick out to a gathering. Afraid of waking Alicia up, Frederick spoke softly.
"I'm busy today, perhaps another time!"
He thought that he should keep some distance from Danica now that he had made his choice. He had to find a suitable time and made things clear with Danica.
"What are you busy with? Can't you postpone it? It's the weekend. What's the fun of me going alone? It's boring without you. I've already told my friends—"
"Danica!"
He was a little displeased by her insistence. He was about to reply that he was married and it was inconvenient to meet her when he suddenly caught sight of something from the corner of his eye. As he looked back, a slender figure came into his vision. Alicia was standing at the doorway looking at him darkly and almost eerily, her lips curled up as if vaguely smiling.
He was unprepared to see this and could not react for a couple of seconds.
Alicia had wanted to go to the bathroom but she heard some noise and naturally came out to take a look. She did not expect to see this.
She did not give any reaction, not even saying a word. Then, she turned and strolled back into the room. Her footsteps were still like a cat, making no sound at all.
Sh*t! Why did everything happen in a coincidence?
Panicking, Frederick was about to follow her when a voice anxiously sounded from his phone again. "Frederick? What are you doing? Why aren't you talking? Did you hear me?"
"I'm busy! I'm hanging up!"
He put down the phone and hurried back to the room in large strides.
He looked up and saw the pink suitcase back in the middle of the room. Alicia was standing next to the sofa as she held a huge teddy bear in her arms, looking like she was about to pack her luggage.
Frederick's eyebrows snapped together. He stepped forward and blocked her way. Grabbing the teddy bear from her, he said, "Ally, we need to talk!"
Without batting an eyelash, she let go and turned to the desk beside her. Just as she picked up her book, he seized the other side of it. She rolled her eyes at him and let go again while returning to the sofa. This time, he was quicker and took her purse first.
Anger was starting to sizzle in her eyes as she lifted her gaze. What the hell? What did he want? Was he holding her belongings as a hostage? Then, it would do if she left without anything, wouldn't it? Alicia was disgruntled.
Cursing him a million times in her heart, she walked to the closet gloomily. Fortunately, she had left two sets of casual, everyday clothing. Otherwise, he would have thrown all of her perfectly-fine clothes away!
Just as she took a shirt from the hanger, Frederick hugged her around her waist.
"Ally! Don't throw a tantrum! You're a married woman, you have a family. You can't go back to your mother's house every time we quarrel! We need to solve our problems! We need to talk!"
He pushed her buttons at the instant. Alicia threw a punch at him the next second.
"No one's talking to you! Go away! Did you say I'm married? I'm married to the air, to the house, to a pompous b*stard! Frederick Clements! Have you forgotten? I've already signed the divorce
agreement! I didn't have any objections and I've given my place. You don't need to make calls in secret ever again! Shouldn't you be happy?"
She was not allowed to go back to her mother's house after they quarrel but he could stay outside without coming home every night? Would anyone know if she even died here? Suddenly, she remembered the last time where she had severe menstrual pain. She called the ambulance instead of him! What difference did it make whether he was around or not?
No, there was a difference!
Without him, no one would hold her back. No one would reprimand her, hit her, scold her, despise her, and rile her. Without him, nobody would make her accompany clients. Her days would be filled with freedom!
It would be a thousand times better without him! Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
The strength difference between men and women
made it hard for Alicia to push Frederick away. She was mad. "Let your other women have my place! Give me the divorce agreement! Give it to me!"
"You can rest assured that I won't continue to pester you! I won't say anything about you! I'll act like we are strangers and I won't give you any trouble! I'll treat it as another failed relationship!"
"I can even sign an agreement!"
"I still want to get married! Why would I taint my own reputation? I have no lack of suitors... Please just dump me, dump me! I can find another man while I'm still young, then you can be assured too!"
She was furious and all she could think of was to quickly divorce. She just rattled anything that came to her mind without noticing Frederick's gloomy expression.
He no longer held back his agitation. Holding the back of her head, he questioned, "Do you want to divorce and leave me so badly? Are you still thinking of getting back together with your ex- boyfriend?"
"So what? Anyone's better than you! He didn't love me but he wouldn't push me into another man's arms! In your eyes, am I any different from a prostitute? I'm only worth a million dollars, cheaper than one of your shirts or a watch! Would you, Master Frederick, care about a worn shirt or a used watch?"
Her tears gushed out as she was fuming in pain. Why did she give her first night to a heartless man like him?
If it wasn't for that one time, that misunderstanding, she wouldn't be in this situation at present!
Turning away, she kept wiping away her tears. She did not want to cry but the tears would not stop flowing.
Frederick knew that what happened this time had hurt her too deeply but he did not expect that she would be so determined to leave him.
Running his fingers through her hair, he suppressed his emotions before explaining again.
"I told you, it was an accident! I wouldn't give you to another man, let alone let someone defile you. I promise!"
"I won't listen! What are you still lying to me for? All of this is not important anymore! Didn't you want a divorce? Fine, I won't leave! I'll wait for you to divorce me, is that what you want?"
She was frustrated since she could not win against him.
"Let go! Let me go! Don't touch me with your filthy hands and stay away from me! Frederick Clements, I don't care how famous or rich you are, I've seen more than enough of rich young masters like you! My man must dote on me, love me, and care about me! All you do is leave me alone! You aren't worthy of me! I won't waste any of my time on you!
She really hated him and used every ounce of strength in her body to push him away. She then was going to prepare to sleep on the sofa.
Huffing and puffing, she was about to turn away when Frederick pulled her back. With his arms around her waist, he leaned close to her face, his demeanor intimidating.
"Are you done with blowing off steam? Seems like I have to teach you... the Clements family's rules!
Holding the back of her head, he lowered his head and kissed her domineeringly, engulfing her lips in an instant.
