Chapter 14
Frederick tried to push Alicia away a couple of times but to no avail. He was so annoyed he almost went mad but he dared not push her away forcefully. In the end, he was sleepy after being tormented like this. Therefore, he let her hug him and fell asleep.
Unexpectedly, both of them slept soundly that night.
The next day, Alicia opened her eyes in a daze and reached for her cell phone habitually before going to the bathroom.
She was still half-awake as she flipped through her cell phone while sitting on the toilet seat.
She caught a glimpse of red when she got up. She paused for a while and blinked before going out of the bathroom to fumble a piece of sanitary pad from her handbag. She did the whole process without even thinking about it.
Frederick, who stirred shortly after her, opened his eyes as he sat up. He spotted a faint red mark on the beige bed and that was where she was laying earlier. His thoughts were in a mess when he got out of bed. Following that, he noticed her series of actions and his face darkened instantly.
"You're not pregnant?" Frederick questioned.
"Huh?"
At the same time, Alicia shivered and turned around. She went blank as she stood rooted to the
spot. She was greeted by his sharp gaze. After that, her sight fell on her hands and it felt like the sanitary pad burned her. Instantly, she stumbled and took a step back as she snapped back to her senses. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
What? Was she not pregnant? How could she have her period?
A blurry idea crossed her mind and she checked on her cell phone. As expected, she found the text message in the spam folder.
"I am a doctor from Provintand Hospital. Miss No. 018, I am sorry to inform you that you are not pregnant but you have gastroenteritis. Due to our negligence, we have mistaken Miss No. 013's result for yours. We are very sorry for the misunderstanding and inconvenience that we caused you. Please accept our sincere apology! We have tried calling your number several times but no one answered. Therefore, we decided to inform you by text. Please visit the hospital to receive your treatment!"
She was not pregnant!
Alicia's head was buzzing and she realized that she received the text message a few days ago. Furthermore, it was labeled as spam and had been sitting in the spam folder ever since!
If it was not for the notifications for the text messages she received earlier, she would still be in the dark. A few moments ago, she was checking starred text messages that somehow ended up in the spam folder.
With that, she raised her head to look at Frederick. She was baffled when he looked like he was going to skin her alive!
She tried to explain, "It's not me, it's the hospital —" There was a mistake!
She raised her hand subconsciously and wanted him to read the text message to prove her innocence. However, Frederick was so frustrated that he was about to explode with rage. He was afraid that he could not control himself from strangling her there and then. Therefore, he slapped her hand away and stepped into the bathroom before slamming the door behind him.
Alicia's body trembled as she was livid as well. It was not what she wanted!
Initially, it was a good thing that she was not pregnant! However, she had gotten married. Did she make a fool of herself?
Immediately, she picked up her cell phone and dialed angrily.
"You quack! You screwed up my life! Do you even have a medical license? How could you mistake a simple disease with something else? Why don't you just quit your job and stay at home? What kind of hospital is it? A specialist hospital? Go to h*ll! Go to h*ll! Go to h*ll!" Alicia cursed repeatedly.
On the other end, an engaged tone was heard coming from the cell phone. The man, who just woke up to Alicia's angry remarks, was staring at his phone with a confused look.
What was going on? He just reported to work and had yet to start working. What was that?
After venting her anger, Alicia's shoulder fell.
What should she do? Would Frederick think that she pretended to be pregnant to leech off him? Oh dear, there was nothing she could do to clear her name!
