And The Daddy Is… The Infertile Guy?!

Chapter 214

Chapter 214

Selina felt like every swipe of the glossy wedding photos was a stab to her heart.

Marina, the smart one, chuckled. “Mr. and Mrs. Chadwick have weathered storms together, and their bond is deeper than the average couple. Unlike someone who’s all about the fun times but vanishes the second things get rough.”

Eve knew who “someone referred to, but she played dumb.

*Selina,” Eve called, gesturing for her to come over, “go ahead and present the gifts”

Hauling many packages, Selina placed them on the living room coffee table, saying, “Gwendolyn, I’m so sorry about last night. It was my inistake for not understanding the situation, causing you to be misunderstood. That clumsy maid in to blame for us ending up in

the water.”

Glancing at the expensive gifts, Gwendolyn remembered Howard saying that there was no need to be too kind to them.

Gwendolyn replied with a detached tone. “Well, I forgive you”

Looking around, Selina commented, “Don’t you have a photo–shooting tour? I remember Howie orice saying he wanted to travel for the wedding shoot, but all I see are studio pictures.”

Marina’s smile was sarcastic as she said, “Ms. Hamilton, how could one travel with a disability? Mr. Chadwick has promised Mrs. Chadwick will eventually have whatever others have. You needn’t worry.”

Gwendolyn’s eyebrows rose, a laugh almost escaping her lips.

Tears welled up in Selina’s eyes as she said, “I’m sorry. More than anyone, I wish Howie was all well. He saved me first last night. You’re not upset with me, are you?”

At her words, Marina scoffed dismissively.

Gwendolyn said, “No. He said he wanted to save me and accidentally saved the wrong person,

Selina was speechless. Why would Howard design to explain himself to a country girl?

Marina gave Gwendolyn a covert thumbs–up, silently cheering her on for her clever retort!

a seat” Gwendolyn urged her politely. “Marina, could you make some coffee?”

“Right away, Mrs. Chadwick, Marina headed to the kitchen.

With her eyes calculating, Selina excused herself with a smile. TII just pop to the restroom. You two have a good chat.” She then confidently walked toward a comer.

Gwendolyn suppressed her discomfort and let her go.

Eve sat on the nearby sofa with worry on her face. She grasped Gwendolyn’s wrist and said, “Gwendolyn, I have no one else to turn to.”

“Please, go on.”

Eve spoke earnestly, “I need your help to treat my younger son. He was in a car accident over twenty years ago and has been in a comna. ever since, kept alive by machines.”

As she said this, her eyes filled with tears.

“The doctors say… he doesn’t have much longer… Gwendolyn, please help me. We will compensate you handsomely. We’ll owe you a great debt” Eve offered, willing to pay any price for her son.

Gwendolyn felt sympathy for her, but she remembered Enoch’s warning. Enoch had reminded her that she must not agree to the Lopez family’s request, no matter what

“Eve, I’m not that powerful.”

“Gwendolyn, just try!” Eve pleaded desperately. “Just give it a try. Go see him once!”

Gwendolyn’s heart clenched, and she shook her head in distress. “I’m sorry. I can’t agree to it.”

Eve pressed, “You took an oath when you entered the medical field to dedicate yourself to medicine, to heal and save! Gwendolyn, if you could save Howard, why won’t you even take a look at my son?”

Gwendolyn shut her eyes tight, unable to meet her gaze.

She couldn’t forget the words she’d spoken on the day of her oath, nor the commitment she’d made to a lifetime in medicine.

Yet, she had turned away a patient’s family in their plea for help.
