Chapter 13- Things are not always as they seem
It was quite incredible to see a royal legacy right in front of your eyes. Lucy only read about the Warrior packs and the Royal kingdom in the history book when she was a senior in high school. It traced all the way back to the moon goddess’s first creation when she gifted four descendant brothers with elemental powers: The fire, Ice, Wind and Sand. But peace never lasted long among the brothers as the great war broke for the fight of power. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
In the end, the Fire warrior pack came out as the undefeatable winner as the Ice Warrior pack was eradicated. The other two packs; Wind and Sand went on to become the neutral pack. Decades later, many small packs emerged and soon a rebellion brewed. The rebellion packs declared a war on the Fire Warrior pack who was the most powerful pack standing and was ruled by Alpha Ian then.
The rebellion was followed by strange vampire attacks. It wasn’t clearly written in the history book after that, but it was mentioned that Alpha Ian’s mate, Sarah was moon goddess’s daughter and she was gifted with all four elemental powers. After they defeated the Vampire king and resolved the rebellion, they were crowned as Alpha king and Luna Queen.
With the introduction of the Royal Kingdom, all the packs reigned under the rule of the royal couple, and no one dared to rebel. Afterall, their crowning was predicted as fit by the holy cathedral shrine, the governing body of the werewolf world.

‘Mate is looking at us. Lucy, do something’, Emery howled inside Lucy’s head as she finally burst out of her thinking bubble and continued to stare at Caleb.
Jayden was already stuttering his words by now as Caleb’s elemental power was surfacing more by the passing second and it was quite obvious that the Royal general was way stronger than a mere pack Alpha.
Jayden remained frozen to the ground as Caleb turned to Lucy again making her heart skip a beat.
‘Are you okay? I hope I didn’t shock you too much’, Caleb asked worriedly, and it suddenly dawned on Lucy that he must have thought she was just an omega of this pack. This was perfect as she wanted him to continue thinking that. He should never find out that she had Beta’s blood or else, he might be actually interested in her. All the Alphas were obsessed with rank and power after all. And she was sure this royal General or Alpha was no different.
‘I am fine. Can I please take my leave?’, Lucy’s meek voice echoed the room.
‘Of course, can we have a little chat outside first? After that, I will stop bothering you, I promise’, Caleb pleaded with his sparkling silvery eyes.
She gave him a small nod as she led the way outside. Jayden was passed out by then as the alcohol and the hunt’s exhaustion finally got to him.
‘Don’t worry, he won’t remember a thing. He was drunk through and through’, Caleb laughed it off when he saw Lucy sneaking a peak at Jayden on the floor.
Once they were outside, they stood under the full moon in an awkward silence. Caleb wanted to be careful with her as he did not want to scare his mate off more. His wolf, Titan went crazy earlier when they sensed their mate in danger. He could not believe it, but Titan was able to trace the tiniest scent of Lucy and track her down in Jayden’s locked room. He was confused about why Lucy had different scented clothes on, he needed to know the answers. There were also many other weird things happening. Alpha Jayden was claiming his mate as his, the sudden surfacing of Lucy’s wolf and the aura it emitted. The presence was bigger than that of an Alpha wolf. ‘What really was that all about?’ He thought to himself.
Ahem. Caleb cleared his throat as he finally broke the dreading long silence. ‘Lucy, can you sense that we are mate?’.
‘No’, she lied, and Caleb knew straightaway because she looked down and avoided his gaze while answering.
‘Look me in the eyes and tell me we are not fated mates. And that we do not belong to each other. Go on’, the Ice Warrior Alpha challenged her.
Lucy shot her head up to meet his eyes. Instantly his silver eyes pierced her soul as she started feeling weak in her knees. She knew she simply could not get off this time.
‘Fine, maybe we are mates. But I am just an omega and I have been known to be cursed around here’, Lucy declared hoping to scare him off. As much as she wanted him to believe that and run off, a small part of her wanted him to just call her bull. shit and kiss her right there.
‘I understand it might be quite daunting to be mated to such a higher ranked Alpha. But there is no need to feel that way, Lucy. You are my mate after all’, he assured her, innocently thinking about how fragile omega’s spirits and energy were.
She did not know whether to laugh or cry at his innocence, but she chose to do neither.
‘Lucy, I have been waiting for a mate for too long. I still have not mated with any she-wolf’, he continued letting Lucy set her hopes high and letting her reconsider her choices. ‘I know you may not have given right to make decisions for yourself being an omega. But I want you to know that I will not force you to accept the mate bond’.
He took her hands into his as millions of sparks flew between them, the attraction was undeniably there.
‘I, Caleb Duke, Alpha of the Ice warrior pack and General in command of the Royal Kingdom accept you, Lucy as my mate. I hope you return the same feelings’, he proudly announced.
Lucy’s heart was beating fast, she wanted to yell and scream that she accepted the bond but held back for some reason. ‘Lucy, mate wants us please’, her wolf begged.
‘Emery, we know nothing about Caleb. And if I reveal everything to him right now, this could put Jo in danger. I cannot skip happily into my fairy tale and leave Jo with the sick bast. ard, Jayden. Its better we forget about him and the mate bond’, Lucy tried explaining painfully to her wolf. But it was the truth. If she revealed her and Jo’s secret now, she would be setting her friend up to be stuck with a monster forever. Just the scent of Jo’s clothes drove Jayden this crazy, she could imagine how he would behave if he sensed Jo’s true scent, it would be absolutely chaotic.
‘Well?’, Caleb’s deep warm voice disrupted her train of thoughts.
‘I cannot ace…’, Lucy started but was immediately stopped by the silver haired general who looked like he almost lost his life.
‘Please wait, Lucy. Think about it for some time. You do not have to answer me straight away. But know that, I have already accepted the bond from my side. So please, I hope you think this through properly’, with that Caleb sprinted away, scared that Lucy might reject him right there.
She stood there watching Caleb sprint away, he was gone within seconds. Tears welled up in her eyes as she knew she had already made her choice.
‘I am sorry, Emery’, she begged for her wolf’s forgiveness.
‘This is going to hurt us badly, Lucy. I hope we have enough strength to get through the rejection if you decide to reject him’, Emery’s defeated voice replied.
‘I understand. Come to think about it, can I see how you look Emery?’, Lucy asked suddenly realised she did not know how her wolf looked like.
‘Soon Lucy. We are not strong enough to transform and shift right now. But when the right time comes, you will see me’, Emery assured her making her forget everything and smile.
‘I bet you are gorgeous’, Lucy asked her wolf dreamily.
‘You bet we are’.

Next day
‘My head, s. hit. Why did I drink so much?’, Jo groaned as she sat upright in her bed. Her head was still throbbing painfully, so was he eyes.
‘Good morning, Jo, you are up!’, Lucy approached her with a tray of tea.
‘Hey you’, Jo’s morning voice croaked.
Lucy set down the tea as she stirred the cup and handed it over.
‘Thanks Lucy’, Jo said as she took the hot tea and brought it closer to her mouth to blow on it. ‘Where did the two mischievous fairies go?’.
‘Oh, they went out on a ‘healthy’ morning walk or so they told me’, Lucy replied with a hint of hesitation.
‘Really? Where to?’, Jo asked not believing the two fairies were up to anything good.
‘To the warrior’s base…and to see the ‘hot warriors’ in their own words, Lucy finally told her.
‘Now that sounds more believable’, she heaved as she took more sips of the pleasant tea.
‘Listen Jo, about what happened yesterday. Can you forgive me for reading ahead of the chapters and spoiling it for you?’, Lucy asked with a hint of guilt audible in her voice.
‘You silly, I told you it was all okay! Now until I catch up to that chapter, you better wait for me’, Jo laughed heartily.
‘Of course!’, Lucy promised her friend. ‘I also need to tell you something else, Jo’.
‘Okay?’, Jo asked with one brow raised.
‘Caleb is my true mate and I plan on rejecting the mate bond’, Lucy declared making Jo drop the tea on the blanket….
