KNIGHT
“Can you move a little?” I could hear her heartbeat racing as she gestured at me.
“To the center or side?”
“To your left, Knight.” There was an irritation in her voice, but at least she hadn’t kicked me out of her room yet, and the night was still young.
“This bed fits for both of us, even for three people.” I moved a little.
“I’m not letting anyone in. I’m not interested in a threesome, manwhore.” She fixed her pillow and laid on her side, stiffed as a slab.
I inwardly growled as I turned to face her. “I didn’t say I want to do a threesome. I want to make things clear between us. I won’t share you with anyone else. Do you understand me? I was trying to say that maybe we’ll have kids someday, and if they want to come to our bed, I will let them. And I want more kids.”
“You’re too ahead of yourself, Knight.” She narrowed her eyes at me. “Pull yourself together. We have a lot on our plates right now to think of having a big family.”
“This is not helping.” I blew a breath as I sat on the bed. “I’m pissing you off instead of gaining your trust. Should I leave?”
“Stay. Just no more talking. I want to sleep in peace.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.” She turned on her side. “And if you touch me, even if you’re stronger and heal fast, I will stab you in the neck.”
I chuckled as I lay back beside her. “You’re scary, my little human mate.”
“You don’t know me well, so I suggest you do not easily trust me.”
“Duly noted.” I faced her and rested my hand on her waist.
“What did I say-”
“I’m not touching you, just resting my arm-”
“Knight, don’t be a pain tonight, okay?”
“So, no making out then?”
“Gee.” She quickly turned and glared.
“Okay, okay.” I laughed as I raised my hands to surrender. “Let’s get some sleep. Good night, Nirvana.”
***
I woke up to something heavy on my abdomen and thighs. Nirvana snuggled tightly.
I wasn’t complaining, but if she woke up in this position, she would blame me for getting into it. For now, I let my wolf get the satisfaction he craved for so long.
I kissed the top of her head before I closed my eyes again. She smelled sweeter and succulent, making my cock hard.
I hadn’t had sex in months. I was busy with work and travel and then met my mate. It wasn’t hard to find a hookup, especially when you had the looks, wearing a thousand-dollar suit and driving an expensive car, but I would not hurt Nirvana’s feelings, and my wolf would go wild if I cheated on his mate.
I knew Nirvana was still fighting the mating pull, and I had done a terrible job of gaining her trust, but I couldn’t even look at women the same way again. All I wanted was my mate.
As insane as it sounded, I only wanted to make her happy.
Califf and Shadow were right, after all. My priorities had shifted.
I woke up to an empty bed. The sun had already risen. Her phone was on her sketch pad, but I didn’t hear noises from the bathroom.
I grabbed the sketchpad and checked out her work. The first sketch I saw was the vineyards and then my face. It wasn’t nearly finished, but she was really good. She just made my heart race and my stomach flutter. She got my eyes and my hair right.
I linked Kailin. “Have you seen Nirvana?”
“Thought she’s with you.”
“She was, but maybe she got up early and went out for a run.”
“You two should complete the mating process or do a blood pact so she could be a part of our pack. It will keep her safe, Alpha.”
“I don’t know, K. I’m trying hard here, but every time I did something, it pissed her off more than getting her close to me.”
“Patience and just be your annoying yourself. She likes you, and I can see it.”
“Well, she has a terrible way of showing it to me because I see anger and irritated face.”
She laughed. “You two are so dumb. It’s her way of showing she’s into you and she cares. You should have seen her face when you were in that ring. Goddess, my best friend likes you a lot. Just don’t push her too hard.”
“Good to know.”
“Now go and find her before she runs too far.”
“Thanks.”
I got up from bed and used the bathroom. I put my clothes back on and got out of her room. Guys were already scattered in the living room.
“Can I bring breakfast for you, alpha?” Roisin asked.
“Maybe later. I have to find Nirvana.”
“She’s probably in the vineyards. I saw her earlier. Thirty minutes ago.”
“Thanks.”
“I’ll look out for her if she goes out, alpha. With your permission, of course.”
“That would be a great idea, Zander. Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
On foot, I went towards the vineyards but couldn’t catch her scent. Finding her on these ten thousand hectares of land was difficult without her phone and our pack link.
I made my way toward the cabin. Maybe the guys had gone out for a run and seen her. Then, I instantly sniffed her scent and that of the other male werewolves.
Laughs erupted from the cabin with distinct laughs from the twins, Maddox and Gage.
I pushed the door open, slamming it wide because my wolf had just stirred inside me.
“What the hell?” Nirvana startled, her eyes widening as she stared at me, standing at the corner.
“Alpha.” The twins rose, looking terrified, and so did Maddox and Gage.
“Why are you here?” I asked Nirvana.
The guys went awfully silent, dropping their gazes.
“I went out for a run while you were still sleeping. I kind of went far. Then I saw them coming over here. And they told me this is where they keep their clothes before they go out for a run. And why are you here looking like you’re about to maul us?”
“How was your run?” I calmed a little, or it was an instinct to calm down, or we both ended up yelling at each other. If there was one thing I learned about Nirvana, it was that she didn’t yield. Like she said before, she would never submit, which made her a strong luna.
She smiled and shrugged as she walked towards the door. “Fun, and I like it here. The air doesn’t smell of city pollution or fast food. Also, this is a huge place. It would take me hours and hours to go around the circle.”
“If you will go out on a run next time, just leave a note or take your phone with you.”
“No can do, Alpha.” She cupped my face and squinted. “I’m not like most people who run with their AirPods or headset on and listen to music. I’d rather listen to nature.”
“Let’s go out for a run then.”
She smiled, amused, looking at my outfit. “In that get up?”
“Let’s go home then. I’ll make us breakfast.”
“That I won’t say no to.” She let go of me and walked out of the door.
“I’ll be there,” I told her as she walked towards the vineyards.
“We didn’t do anything, alpha. We just talked,” North said.
“I know. I didn’t smell any scents in her than her own. What did you all talk about?” I looked at them one by one.
“She asked if we went to check the border,” West said.
“And I apologized to her when he saw me,” Gage replied.
“We only talked in three minutes before you arrived, Alpha,” Maddox said.
“If you see her on a run, make sure to keep an eye on her. She’s not an official member of our pack but an important person in my life.”
“We know. She’s your mate and our future luna,” Gage’s admission wasn’t surprising.
News in our pack spread quickly like wildfire. I hadn’t confirmed or announced that Nirvana was my mate, but it didn’t need a rocket scientist to figure it out. I never brought a woman home, and when I did, they all knew she must be important to me.
“And we will protect her with our lives.”
“I hope it won’t come to that, West.”
“Alpha, are you coming or what?”
“Yes.” I left the boys and ran towards Nirvana at a supernatural speed.
She gasped as she found herself in my arms. “Wow.”

“I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she scoffed, but her face said otherwise.
“Right. Next time, I will take a picture as proof that we get along just fine, especially in bed.”
“Do that, and I will break your phone.”
“Let’s go home and make breakfast, sweetheart.”
“So they know?”
“What do they know?”
“That we’re mates.”
