Alpha Kilian said nothing as he continued to walk, a complex look on his face. Tony quickly fell into step beside his father. When he realized the latter didn’t seem interested in talking, he decided to break the silence.
“Daddy, are you taking this money to have a showdown with Boss?” Upon hearing that, Alpha Kilian froze for a moment. The kids shouldn’t be involved in this matter, but how on earth do I stop them?
Undeterred by his father’s silence, Tony added, “Has he contacted you again?” Instead of replying, Alpha Kilian began walking faster, to the point where Tony struggled to keep up. Left with no choice, the boy ran forward and grabbed his father’s arm.
“Daddy, haven’t we just reached an agreement? Why are you doing this again?” Alpha Kilian finally stopped in his tracks and lowered his gaze to Tony.
“Do you know what Nelly reminded me the most when we met?” “I do! She told you to protect Ben and me!” Tony replied. Thanks to the microphone, I heard their conversation loud and clear!
“Good that you know.” “Daddy, we’re not saying we want to get involved. As long as you tell us what’s happening, we won’t cause any trouble. But if you continue the silent treatment, we can only keep guessing and trying until we figure things out ourselves. Who knows what might happen if we go down that route?”
Alpha Kilian gazed at his son. The kid’s not even at my waist, yet he dares stare at me with so much persistence and stubbornness.
“Yes. I’m using this money to have a showdown with Boss.”
“But hasn’t Nelly already given you all the information about Boss?” Tony asked.
“If I suddenly take a step back from everything and put on an air of indifference, don’t you think it’ll only arouse Boss’ suspicions even more? Moreover, what happens if Boss really thinks I’ve given up on Nelly and decides she’s no longer useful to him? Do you think he’ll let her off easily?”
After pondering for a while, Tony realized his father’s words made a lot of sense. “So, the best plan now is to work together and buy time for Nelly, isn’t it? Only then can we create opportunities for her.”
Alpha Kilian gazed at Tony as a smile slowly crept across his face. “That’s right.” Tony, too, nodded and broke into a smile. “I got it!”
“Now that you know the plan, I don’t want you acting recklessly on your own. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Daddy!” With that, the father and son continued walking away, but this time, Alpha Kilian made sure to slow down for Tony to keep up with him.
A few seconds later, Tony’s voice rang out again. “I only followed you earlier because I didn’t know what you were up to, Daddy. As long as you keep an open line of communication with us, I can assure you we won’t do anything reckless. As parents, we only want to protect our children and give them the best.”
Tony felt his heart skip a beat, and for some inexplicable reason, he was happy to hear those words from his father.
“But Daddy, you know it’s just a matter of time before Ben and I embark on our training with Darknetz. That’s not something we can change. Are you going to keep following us and protecting us?”
Hearing that, Alpha Kilian lowered his head to look at the boy, only to have the latter meet his gaze. “Instead of protecting us, why don’t you teach us something more practical, Daddy? That way, we can deal with new situations and even defend ourselves if the need arises!”
“Is that what you think?” Tony nodded excitedly, all wide-eyed and sincere.
After giving it some thought, Alpha Kilian finally nodded. “Okay.”
“That’s more like it, Daddy! If you teach a man to fish, you’ll feed him for a lifetime!” Tony said proudly. “I’ve even memorized the entire dictionary.”
Alpha Kilian nodded before turning to Miguel and his team. “Thank you so much!”
Miguel smiled. “Don’t mention it, Alpha Morris. If you need our help, feel free to call us!”
No one would ever guess that Miguel and his team had the power to control the world from behind their computers. Dave suggested they head inside to discuss further once they’d gotten everything set up. As the six of them walked in with their hands full of boxes and black bags, it was quite a spectacle.
Tony turned to Dave. “Alpha Dave, don’t you think this will draw more attention to ourselves?”
Dave remained calm. “Many people have gathered in the uninhabited zone recently. Miguel and the others being here won’t matter much.”
Ben added, “Alpha Dave booked this entire hotel floor ten minutes ago. The hotel staff has already cleared everyone out.”
Tony was stunned. “You know what, Alpha Dave? The way you spend your money is a lot like my daddy!”
Dave laughed. “Oh, that’s where you’re mistaken. This money is from your daddy! Once everything’s settled, I’ll send him the bill.”
Tony teased, “Well, that might be difficult… How so?”
Alpha Kilian gave Dave a wry smile. “My son clearly knows me better!” he mused before striding into the hotel. “Do you think I’d guard my money fiercely like that?”
Deve found himself at a loss for words. “What’s going on? Has Alpha Kilian lost his principles? He was once so spirited and invincible! What happened to him?”
Tony shrugged and ran after Alpha Kilian followed by Ben.
Back in the hotel, the team was busy setting up their computers and gadgets. Although it wasn’t as luxurious as their hidden room, it was enough. Dave began giving instructions, and Miguel listened intently with a lollipop in his mouth.
Tony approached Deve. “Alpha Dave, are you guys planning to fight against the Midnight Fang Pack?”
Dave gave a firm nod. “We’re not just fighting. We’re wiping them out.”
Amidst their discussion, Miguel straightened himself on the chair as he stared at the surveillance footage.
“Dave, something is happening,” Miguel said.
Dave turned to the large display behind him, where a car was shown slowly leaving the hotel exit.
“Why aren’t they afraid to go out now?” Dave asked.
“Maybe they’re going to Midnight Fang Pack,” Tony suggested. Dave looked at him.
“If he doesn’t bring Nelly to Midnight Fang Pack today, she will go there on her own,” Tony added.
Dave frowned. Before he could ask more questions, he turned to Miguel. “Is he in the car?”
Miguel quickly typed on the keyboard and replied without turning his head, “Yes, one of the cameras caught him entering the car.”
After a moment, Dave said, “Great. Tell our men at the scene to follow them. Keep a safe distance and don’t lose them.”
Miguel nodded and continued typing.
Dave picked up the phone to contact Alpha Kilian when he entered the room. “J, Boss is up to something,” Dave said.
Alpha Kilian walked over, his eyes fixed on the screen, seeming to understand the situation without saying a word.
He looked down and said, “Miguel, find out Midnight Fang Pack’s headquarters by following Boss, no matter what it takes.”
“I can locate the headquarters as long as he goes there willingly,” Miguel replied. Alpha Kilian nodded.
Meanwhile, inside the car, Boss had mostly recovered from his injury but still looked unwell. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Nelly sat next to him, playing with her phone and wearing a nonchalant expression.
Boss glanced at her and asked, “Did you meet up with J?”
Nelly was surprised for a moment before she composed herself and looked at him. “Are you talking about Alpha Kilian?”
“Who else would I be referring to?” Boss’s eyes gleamed as he tried to see through her lies.
“Do you really not know where I’ve been these past few days? And even if I did meet with someone, it’s my freedom to do so and has nothing to do with you. Don’t look at me as if I betrayed you. I don’t accept that!” Nelly asserted.
Boss continued to gaze at her in silence, leaving Nelly unsure if he believed her or not.
She didn’t elaborate further because she knew that explanations could sometimes expose guilt.
After a few moments, Boss said, “I went to that shop last night.”
Nelly froze, looking up at him. “What shop?”
Boss smirked. “Ms. Jackson, you don’t have to play dumb. You know what I’m talking about.”
Nelly narrowed her eyes. “Are you talking about the shop where I went to buy some things?” Boss nodded.
“So? What are you trying to say?”
“The shop owner told me the truth about what you did there and who you met with.”
Nelly laughed. “Is that so? What did he say? What did I do and who did I meet with?”
“Why don’t you tell me? You should know better than anyone else.”
Nelly met his gaze confidently. She had almost believed him earlier, but now she was sure he was lying.
“I didn’t admit to having any feelings for him. But it’s undeniable that he’s quite attractive. If I don’t have any other choices, he might still be within my consideration.” Nelly smiled as if she was fantasizing about Alpha Kilian’s face.
Her tone and demeanor were sassy and seductive.
Nelly had always given off an indifferent vibe, but now she seemed to have gained clarity and decided to live her life more relaxed.
Boss narrowed his eyes at her. “Don’t all women wish for a loyal man by their side forever? What’s the matter? Did you forget his mistakes and decide to forgive him?”
“How many men can possibly accomplish that?” Nelly sneered. “Besides, I didn’t mention that I’m forgiving him. I’m just telling you that it’s my freedom to make my own decisions, and no one is allowed to interfere. No one!”
Boss stared at her for a few moments before asking, “What if there is someone?”
