Chapter 210
#210 “I Understand Your Predicament.”
After the report, Sophia forced herself to remain calm. She knew she had to act fast after Nelson Stone’s trap had been snapped. Sophia texted Alexander to call her as soon as he could. She realized that he was now busy managing the situation, and she couldn’t afford to burden him with her own worries just yet.
Sophia began rummaging through her luggage and pulled out the letter she had found in Maestro Paus’ private office. The letter contained a whole bunch of names and a note from her grandfather that if she ever needed help, she should look for these people. It was a cryptic message but now seemed like the perfect time to heed her grandfather’s advice.
She decided that now was the time to take action. She pulled out the sheet of names and looked at the first one listed, Jeremy Gostler. Sophia quickly checked the search engine and found that he was a well-respected businessman who dealt with paintings. After a little more investigation, she discovered that he lived in London.
Sophia immediately contacted his company’s office.
“Jeremy Gostler’s office,” his secretary’s voice greeted her.
“Hello, I’m Sophia Johnson,” Sophia began, her voice steady but her heart racing with anticipation. She realized she didn’t know exactly how to present the situation.
“How may I help you, Miss Johnson?” asked the secretary, sounding professional but curious.
“I need to talk to Mr. Jeremy Gostler.”
“On what matter?”
Sophia hesitated for a moment, then decided to be direct. “Would you please tell him that I am Christopher Johnson’s granddaughter? And I think he can contact me if he wants to. Tell him it’s urgent.”
“Miss Johnson, I’m not sure that a call like that…”
“Please just tell him that. Let him decide whether to contact me.”
After a long awkward silence on the other end of the line, the secretary sighed.
“I will let him know.”
“Thank you.”
Sophia hung up the phone and realized that now she had no choice but to wait. Not long after, her phone rang again.
Sophia hesitated before answering, unsure of who might be calling. When she picked up, a pleasant male voice greeted her.
“Miss Johnson, I’m Jeremy Gostler. You wanted to talk to me, and after following the news, I can guess what you want to talk about.”
Sophia’s heart skipped a beat. She knew this was the beginning of something that could potentially change everything. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
Sophia took a deep breath before speaking. “Mr. Gostler, thank you for taking my call. I came across your name in a letter my grandfather left for me, and I believe you might have some answers about him.”
Jeremy listened attentively as Sophia explained the situation, detailing how she found the letter and the cryptic message it contained. She described her desperate search for answers and how she came to contact him in hopes of unraveling the mystery surrounding her grandfather’s past.
After a moment of silence, Jeremy spoke, his voice calm and reassuring. “I understand your predicament, Miss Johnson. I would be more than willing to help you. Why don’t we meet at my home? It’s a quiet place where we can talk without any interruptions.”
Sophia felt a surge of relief at his offer. “That sounds perfect. Thank you, Mr. Gostler.”
Jeremy quickly provided Sophia with his address and extended an invitation for lunch. “It would be my pleasure to have you over. We can discuss everything over a meal.”
Sophia agreed without hesitation, eager to get some answers. “I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
As Sophia left the hotel, her heart pounded with anticipation. But as soon as she stepped outside, she was met with a barrage of questions from the reporters who had been waiting for her.
“Miss Johnson, can you comment on the recent allegations against you and Mr. Stone?”
“Sophia, are you planning to take legal action against the accusations?”
“Did you know about the fraudulent activities within Stone Enterprises?”
Sophia kept her head high, refusing to engage with the reporters as she pushed through the crowd. “No comment,” she repeated firmly, her voice cutting through the clamor.
But the journalists persisted, firing off questions one after another, their voices blending into an indistinguishable cacophony.
“Sophia, how do you respond to claims that your marriage to Alexander Stone was merely a business transaction?”
“Are you still standing by Mr. Stone amidst these controversies?”
“Do you regret your association with Stone Enterprises now that the truth has come to light?”
Sophia remained resolute, refusing to give them the satisfaction of a response. With a determined stride, she made her way towards Jeremy Gostler’s home, leaving the reporters behind in a flurry of unanswered questions.
As Sophia approached Jeremy Gostler’s elegant townhouse, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. Here, away from the prying eyes of the reporters, she could focus on finding the answers she so desperately sought.
With a steadying breath, Sophia rang the doorbell, her heart pounding in anticipation. Moments later, the door swung open, revealing a distinguished man with graying hair and kind eyes Jeremy Gostler himself.
“Miss Johnson, I presume?” Jeremy greeted her warmly, extending his hand in welcome.
“Yes, that’s me,” Sophia replied, returning his handshake with a grateful smile. “Thank you for agreeing to meet with me, Mr. Gostler.”
“The pleasure is mine, please, come in, “Jeremy gestured, stepping aside to allow Sophia entry into his home.
As Sophia stepped into the elegant foyer, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe at the grandeur of the surroundings. The air was filled with the faint scent of fresh flowers, and soft classical music drifted through the air.
“Please, make yourself comfortable,” Jeremy offered, leading Sophia into a cozy sitting room adorned with tasteful furnishings and plush armchairs. ”
Would you care for some refreshments? Perhaps a cup of tea or coffee?”
“A cup of tea would be lovely, thank you,” Sophia replied, sinking into one of the armchairs with a sigh of relief.
As Jeremy disappeared into the kitchen to prepare their drinks, Sophia took a moment to collect her thoughts. She couldn’t shake the feeling of urgency that had driven her to seek out Jeremy’s assistance, and she hoped that he would be able to shed some light on the mysteries surrounding her grandfather.
