After It Happened

Chapter 24: 23

Chapter 24: 23

I'd looked everywhere downstairs. In the kitchen, in the dining room, and she's not upstairs. The

cheering group was still gathered in the living room. Maybe Denise was cheering with them. I went

closer.

"That girl get mind oo. I think say she get boyfriend." (That girl is really brave. I thought she has a

boyfriend.)

"Abii. Tosin don enjoy shaa." (Right? Tosin has really enjoyed.)

I hoped what I thought wasn't what was happening. She couldn't be...No, she wasn't that drunk. I

pushed past the crowd to the front and like I thought, there was Denise dancing...no, grinding on that NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

perv.

I took in deep breaths like my mom taught me to avoid killing someone this evening. I dragged Denise

away from him and stood in front of her ignoring her drunk whines.

"Ah ah na. Wetin?(What's your problem?)" Tosin grumbled as he tried to push me aside.

Control flew out the window at that point. I dragged him by his shirt so that his face was directly in front

of mine. We were about the same size so I could take him on if I wanted to.

"You're the older person here. You should act like it and respect your perverted self."

"What the hell did you..."

"Denise come we're leaving." I said ignoring Tosin's statement and dragging a whining Denise.

"Kelechi what happened? Why are you guys going now?" It was Trish.

Feeling irritated, I just replied with "We really need to be home now. Bye."

Denise was so quiet in the car that I assumed she had fallen asleep. When she spoke up I jumped a

little.

"Aunty Amara will kill me oo. I'm so drunk right now. What's the time?"

I chuckled lightly. So now she realizes the consequences of her actions.

"There's water beside you. Drink it and sprinkle some on your face. There's mint somewhere too. For ur

breath."

"Thank you. No wonder she called you her Messiah."

I simply stared at the girl beside me shocked for a moment.

"You've never mentioned her since everything happened."

"Who?"

"Who else? Your... Nevermind."

We were in front of her house. I glanced at my watch. 6:31. We weren't too late.

"Hope you can walk on your own."

"Uhm yeah. I... woah"

"Gotcha." I said holding her waist to keep her from falling.

She looked up at me with slightly hooded eyes. Our faces were so close... Too close. Her breath

intermingled with mine.

"I..."

I watched her eyes flutter as she sighed filling my nose with a strawberry scent.

"Why?"

"Huh?"

I couldn't think when she was this close.

I gasped lightly when she brought her lips to mine.

Not again.

That soft mouth left as soon as it came leaving me wanting her more.

What the hell are you thinking? She's dating someone.

"I can walk now." she said with a giggle. I forgot I was still holding her waist and stepped back

immediately.

"Thanks for today. See you on Monday then?"

"Yeah. Bye."

I watched her walk to her door hoping her Aunt wouldn't notice anything. I entered my car only when I

saw her walk inside and shut the door.

I came back to a very quiet house. Camille was obviously in her room doing whatever girls do. My mom

was probably busy with Camille's father. Downside of having a huge house with few people in it. With a

sigh I walk into my room tiredly and sit on the edge of my bed. I looked at my reflection in the mirror in

front of me.

Denise's cherry red lipgloss stained my lips.

An evidence. A reminder of what I did today.

If I wasn't sure I felt something for my ex-bestfriend before, I couldn't be surer right now.

She's dating your current best friend. Incase you've forgotten.

As I ran my hands across my face, there was no better expression for this situation but, "Wahala"

(Trouble).
