Branch One Hundred and Seventy Nine
For the rest of the trip, Xavier and Jessica found themselves barely able to go out and they could not keep their hands off each other. When the last day to stay there came Jessica insisted on going out to get things for everyone at home, although Xavier resisted the urge to pin her down that very moment he complied with her because she asked sweetly.
“What do you think Genevieve would like?” Jessica asked as she did her hair in the mirror.
“I don’t know, maybe a box of soaps?” he answered her in a question.
“Soaps? Does she like soaps?” she asked wondering how he came up with that idea.
“I do not know,” he said shrugging. She shook his head and looked at him from the mirror. “Do not give me that look or we might not be able to make it out of this place today” he said and she cast her face away quickly.
“Come on Xavier, we need to pick out gifts for everyone,” she said as she put on the earrings.
“And that is where we are currently going to is it not?” he asked.
“It is but you need to be a part of the gift-giving process, that is when the gift comes alive,” she tells him and he rolls his eyes.
“You think of the gift and I spend the money no matter the amount” he replied and she snorted.
“You just sounded like those arrogant rich billionaire CEOs who only live in books and movies,” she tells me and he chuckles.
“Oh well maybe I am the real-life version of those arrogant people” he walked up to her from the bed he had been sitting in and planted a kiss on her hair.
“You will mess up my hair,” she said in a protest. He bent to her ear level and whispered into them “You should be glad that I decided to stop there. I do not know why you have decided to look so gorgeous”
She shivered with his breath touching her. She shook her head and stood up, we barely went out all through our stay here because you didn’t let us go out” she said turning to face him.
“I did not let us go out? You kept agreeing and initiating it all the time”
“I did that? When? ” she asked crossing her hand across her chest.
“By always looking so sexy,” he said wrapping his hand around his waist.
“Xavier,” she said in a warning tone.
“I am not doing anything” he replied pulling her closer.
“Are you not?” she asked and a playful smile danced on his lips.
“I mean I just wanted to hold my wife in my hands, can’t a man do that at least without getting berated?” he asked lowering his head.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
“No kissing,” she said putting her hand over his mouth before it could get to hers. His eyes opened in shock.
“You will ruin my makeup before we can even get a chance to go out”
“You only need to look good for me,” he said like a hurt child.
“I need to look good so when we have our pictures taken by strangers I look better than you do”
He laughed at her logic and nodded her head.
“Sure”
Jessica had meticulously picked out gifts for everyone she knew even when Xavier told her to pick up the expensive gifts she made sure to pick affordable things.
The whole mall they went to was filled up with reporters. It was as if they were waiting to scoop an important news that might happen anytime from then.
“Thank God, I wore make” Jessica murmured when she saw one of the reporters turning a camera their way.
“I do not know why you are bothered about how to look. You would always be beautiful regardless of the makeup or whatever it is that you wear” he said.
Coming from someone who was insanely gorgeous, Jessica was confused if it was a compliment or an encouragement. After they left the mall, they went to eat something at a restaurant that Xavier had reserved for them to have a meal before they came.
This was the first reservation they had met since they touched down at Aurora Haven. Xavier knew the restaurants would try to reach out when they did not see him and Jessica might feel bad for not showing up and then make them show up for every other reservation.
Xavier liked the calm that came with the two of them spending time together in peace without the press hovering over them like they did in the mall.
“I do hope you have not forgotten your promise?” Jessica asked as they sat down to eat.
“What promise?” he asked raising his brows trying to know what she was referring to.
“About the learning from some chef,” she said and he nodded.
“Oh I did not forget and that is why we are here today,” he said when the chef lined out to greet them with the entire crew. The head chef was a woman in her fifties and she bowed down to greet them.
“Mr and Mrs. Delgado, welcome it’s so lovely to have you here,” she said with a smile.
“Chef Mali?” Jessica asked in a gasp.
She knew the woman right from her childhood days and followed her so closely. She was one of those who inspired her to thrive in the field of cooking.
“I see you know her already,” Xavier said with a smile.
“Yes I do,” Jessica said with a huge smile shining on her face.
“Okay then I think that is great”
“Why is that great?” Jessica asked feeling adrenaline pumping through her entire body. She was excited to meet one of the people she always considered as a role model to her.
“I think it would be great if I broke the news, Mr. Delgado,” Mali said turning to face Xavier who nodded affirmative which made the woman turn to face Jessica.
“Me. Delgado here had informed me that you would be opening a restaurant and that I would be the one in charge of teaching you a little from my limited knowledge about the coming industry” she said.
Jessica felt her mouth open like a fish brought out of water. “I will be starting the very next week with you at Chiachester city” Mali added.
Jessica quietly pinched herself and winced in pain. It was real, it was happening. She turned to face Xavier who’s eyes never left her.
“Really?” she asked almost feeling herself crying out of pure excitement.
“This is all for you babe,” he said with a wink.
