Chapter 466: The Most Dangerous Place Is the Safest
Chapter 466: The Most Dangerous Place Is the Safest
Taking a look at the phone number, the servant is sure it is Leigh's, but she can't reach him.
At the thought that Leigh may be quite busy on a business trip and that she has seen the photo offered
by Lily, the servant gives the phone back to Lily after a moment of hesitation. "Are you coming back for
dinner?" she asks.
"Yes. Please get the food ready!"
With that, Lily pulls Jessie out of the villa. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
After getting on the car, Jessie is overcome with distress while looking at the receding villa.
She had thought she would stay here, reading some books to kill time while waiting anxiously for the
baby to come. She never thinks of coming out of this villa.
However, she leaves here today.
"Don't dwell on those unhappy things." Lily passes a bottle of water to her. "Drink some water, for your
lips are so dry. I will try my best to ensure the safety of you and the baby."
Jessie takes the bottle and looks at Lily. Feeling warm inside, she says, "Ms. Lily, thank you."
"I should thank you," Lily answers in a hoarse voice, trying to hold back her tears. "You've been helping
me since I left the country. If it hadn't been for me, you wouldn't have..."
"Lily ... Just let the bygones be bygones." Afraid that she herself will burst into tears if Lily keeps
bringing up the past, Jessie stops her and says, "Yorkshire is a small city. Where should we go to avoid
being found by him?"
"Don't worry. He definitely won't be able to find that place." Lily sneers.
Twenty minutes later, they arrive at Water Bay.
"You mean this place?" Jessie is astonished upon realizing that Lily has brought her back to the
apartment. "If he finds out that I'm gone, he will come here to find me first."
Heading towards the apartment with Jessie, Lily says, "I didn't say it was our apartment."
Only then does Jessie feel a little relieved.
After taking the elevator upstairs, Lily walks to the door of Chloe's apartment and rings the doorbell.
Soon the door opens.
"Ms. Lily?" Betty opens the door. She is somewhat surprised to see Lily at such a time. "Didn't you go
to work today? And this is..."
Lily says with a smile, "This is my friend. Where is Chloe?"
"She is in the kitchen!" Betty invites them in and says with a wry smile, "She loves the biscuits you
made last time. Having no interest in the ones made by me, she decided to make some on her own."
Jessie follows Lily into the room. After a while, she comes to her senses and whispers to Lily, "You
want me to live with Chloe? You know that Leigh is her brother, right?"
Lily pats her shoulder in comfort and says, "The most dangerous place is the safest place. Trust me."
Since Lily is so confident in this, Jessie nods and follows her arrangements.
Hearing that Lily is here, Chloe runs out of the kitchen excitedly. "Lily, make some biscuits for me. I am
so in love with them! The ones made by Betty aren't tasty at all."
"OK. I'll make some for you later." Lily helps to take off Chloe's apron and says, "Just tell me what you
want to eat. Don't make it yourself, for you may get hurt."
Chloe replies with a grin, "I was afraid that you might be busy, so I dared not bother you."
She glances over and sees Jessie behind Lily. Widening her eyes in surprise, she asks, "Jessie, you're
here too? How come you lost so much weight..."
Jessie forces a smile at her.
"She broke up with your brother a long time ago." Lily pulls Chloe over and whispers to her, "Jessie
isn't well, so I want her to stay here for a few days."
Chloe nods in agreement. "That's okay. Anyway, I'm bored at home alone. I want to go filming, but
Louis told me to rest for a while longer."
Her words carry a hint of grievance.
She has been staying at home for several months. Although she can get everything she wants, she is
tired of living like a prisoner.
Lily's heart aches. Stroking Chloe's soft hair, she says with a forced smile, "He's worried about you.
Stay here for a few more days, and I'll take you abroad by then, okay?"
After giving a nod, Chloe asks in a low voice, "Lily, when are you and Louis going to get back
together?"
Lily quickly changes the topic, "I'll make you some biscuits. Do you like mochi?"
"Of course!" Chloe's attention is diverted by Lily.
By the time she realizes Lily's intention, the latter has come to the kitchen with Betty.
Chloe wants to go over and ask more, but Jessie blocks her way while saying, "The kitchen is smoky,
so let's go watch TV."
Chloe has to give up the idea of probing into Lily's relationship with Louis.
While busy in the kitchen, Lily tells Betty that Jessie will stay here for the time being.
She describes Leigh as an unforgivable scumbag to win Betty's sympathy and asks her not to tell
anyone about Jessie living here, including Louis.
"How could he have the heart to torture a pregnant woman? That poor girl looks skinny. What a jerk he
is!" Betty has just seen Jessie, who is thin and small, and she can't help feeling sorry for her.
Lily has exaggerated a little bit, but Betty believes all her words.
Betty says she has a daughter-in-law, and she knows women will have a rough time during pregnancy.
She promises to take good care of Jessie and keep this a secret. If Leigh comes here, she will walk a
fine line.
Hearing Betty say this, Lily is relieved.
Lily makes many biscuits and mochi, and she prepares a sumptuous dinner.
During dinner, Jessie asks Lily in a low voice, "What happened to Chloe and Coffey? I asked her about
Coffey, but she asked me who Coffey is."
"She hurt her head while filming," Lily whispered, "So..."
Little Fairy has gone through so many hardships and is now pregnant. Afraid that she will blame herself
after knowing the truth, Lily decides not to tell her.
Jessie is astonished. "Amnesia?"
"Yes. She happened to lose her memories related to Coffey."
"No wonder Mr. Smith stopped her from filming." Having no idea that Lily is telling a lie, she then asks,
"Mr. Justin is amazing, isn't he? Can't he do anything about it?"
Lily says helplessly, "Justin is a scientist, not a doctor. There is a big difference between the two."
"He went to see me before and prescribed some medicine for me. I always thought he was a doctor."
" ... He went to see you?"
Jessie says, "Yes. He called upon me when I was in poor health. After I got pregnant, he called a
doctor to take care of me."
Lily's face gradually darkens. Gritting her teeth, she scolds, "Damn it! He and Leigh are no different. He
didn't tell me about your situation, nor did he help you!"
Jessie analyzes, "Leigh is unpredictable, so Mr. Justin probably doesn't know how to help me, and he
might be afraid of implicating you. Best not to dwell on it, Lily. We should go eat now..."
Jessie feels queasy after eating a few mouthfuls of food and hurries to the bathroom.
Chloe looks over and asks, "Lily, what's wrong with Jessie? Is she not feeling well?"
"Yes, you're right."
Lily's heart aches when she thinks of Jessie's skinny body.
When being pregnant with her first child, she also suffers from morning sickness, but Jessie's situation
is far worse than hers. She is emaciated and can't eat much.
She wonders if Little Fairy can keep her baby.
After finishing her meal and arranging everything in place, Lily leaves at around eight o'clock.
She drives to the nearest ATM and withdraws some money. After returning to the neighborhood, she
goes to a superintendent and says that her Van Cleef & Arpels ring has been stolen.
Since this is no small matter, the superintendent immediately calls the manager, asking him to help
deal with this matter.
