Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 202

"Go ahead. I'm okay with it."

She agreed so quickly that it left Everett feeling a bit miffed. He remembered how, in the past, every time he planned a night out, she'd get upset. She'd drop hints for him to come back early because she was worried some other woman might catch his eye. Now, she seemed almost eager for him to head out.

Everett didn't let his feelings show. Instead, he casually walked over and lifted her right off the couch.

Surprised and suddenly airborne, Selena instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. "Everett, what are you doing?"

He carried her toward the dressing room. "I worry you might not sleep well without me around, so why not come along?" Selena squirmed, "I... I can't..."

Ignoring her protests, he set her down and chuckled softly. "Are you going to change yourself, or should I lend a hand?" He reached to unbutton her nightgown.

Selena, unable to match his playful stubbornness, bit her lip. "I'll do it myself!"

An hour later, they both found themselves at the trendy new bar, Encounter.

Tonight, Jamie was decked out, greeting guests at the entrance. He spotted Everett and Selena and noted the possessive way he held her around the waist. His eyes widened in surprise.

Others might not grasp the significance, but Jamie, who'd shared everything with Everett since childhood, understood perfectly.

Everett was typically aloof, maybe even a bit detached when it came to romance. He might pursue a woman out of desire, but once morning came, they meant nothing to him. He'd always treated Selena like this despite her being his wife in every official sense. Now, here he was, not at some formal event requiring a spouse but a casual gathering, and he'd brought Selena along.

Jamie rubbed his chin, pondering if Everett had finally fallen for her.

With a cheeky grin, he greeted Selena warmly, "Great to see you, Selena! Your presence lights up the place!"

Although Selena had her own

reservations about Jaime, she couldn't ignore his friendly

demeanor. She offered a polite smile back. "Wishing you great success with the bar."

"Thanks a bunch! Everything's on me tonight, so enjoy to your heart's content!"

Jamie had someone guide them to their reserved VIP booth and clinked glasses with them a couple of times before mingling with other guests.

The booth was already buzzing with familiar faces from their social circle. The young elites and socialites were all taken aback by Everett's choice to bring Selena.

Still, they were quick to return to their usual flattery of Everett, only this time, extending the same courtesy to Selena.

Even the socialites who had

previously snubbed her were now singing praises about her skin, asking about her beauty secrets and

which spa she went to, eager to

forge a connection.

Selena was well aware of their motives. They were only being nice

because she seemed to be in

Everett's good graces. If that changed, they wouldn't hesitate to turn against her. en

She didn't want to deal with their insincerity, so she excused herself to the restroom.

It wasn't that she didn't like drinking; she just preferred it with close friends where she could truly relax.

After washing her hands, Selena stepped out, intending to call her friend Joy to see if she was free.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Ahead, she overheard Jamie teasing Everett. "What's going on between you and the missus, Everett? Looks like she's smitten with you, huh?"
